There was a single book on this Lewis. I do not have any books on any scientist, other than Darwin, where the book is on just one person. I had a kids book that had good brief biographies of several, I don't have that anymore. So this is a first, 28 dollars wasted on a 200 page paperback.
I was looking into women chemists, and again there was only a kids level book on Gertrude Elion, among several others. I've met her.

she was a victim of the "we don't give PhD's to women" era of chemistry

Re: Looking for history of science book
Jesus, men were lousy.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?
The Silver State. 1894.
