This one's at Jim really. But someone else might know.
If you have plastic lenses in your eyes, can you still change focus from near to far? How does that work?

Re: Plastic lenses in your eye
The lenses are inserted into the capsule that contained the natural lenses that were going cloudy, which are removed first. The plastic lenses are flexible like the natural one, and the capsule is still attached to the ligaments of the focusing muscles. So yes, there is still the possibility of focusing, although the degree of accommodation possible may well be reduced.
Before my op (both eyes), I was extremely short sighted, and had to wear glasses all the time for normal vision, and a different pair for reading, although I could study really close things well. After the lens replacement, I became slightly long sighted, and only wear glasses for reading and working on the computer.

Re: Plastic lenses in your eye
Ah right. Good explanation. Thanks..
I was wondering how they managed to get the muscles to focus the new lens. I didn't know that they were in a capsule. That's convenient.
I did have a look online, but didn't come across that fact.
I was trying to picture how they could attach muscles to a plastic lens. But that makes it pretty clear.
Literally.
