Well, technically not. The products of decomposition include methane, which is 37 times worse than CO2 for the supposed potential to warm the climate, so it would be best if you incinerate them after you shoot them, because the carbon is released mostly in particulate form, which quickly settles out and is harmless to the atmosphere.

Five gallons of gasoline should do the trick...

Yeh, I don't think ordinary decomposition produces much methane anyway. I thought that it was a special kind of low-oxygen decomposition that produces it, like in cows stomachs or termites, or in bogs or ocean-floor mud.
I could be wrong there though, I haven't checked it out.

As I recall, the biggest source of methane emissions is termite farts in the Amazon. Perhaps we should dust the whole fucking continent with insecticide to prevent TGW.
