Darkover Mafia - Rules and Peanut Gallery

THIS GAME FEATURES A DAY ZERO during which the players will select a Regent (Governor). Day Zero will start right after the role PMs are sent out, and will take place via YOUR PM TO ME. You may not communicate with other players during DAY ZERO even if your role PM specifies that you may communicate privately.

The Regent will be able to veto the day's lynch if he/she so chooses. He will have a half-hour immediately after nightfall in which to make that decision. The thread will remain open for that half hour and players can continue to post until the Regent makes a decision for clemency or for lynch. After the Regent makes their decision, then the thread will be closed for the remainder of the night cycle.

There will be no Night Zero. Once the Day Zero activities have completed, then Day 1 will start.


THE USUAL RULES ARE IN PLACE:

No private communications unless your role PM indicates otherwise.

Do not post your role PM or other GM communication. It's ok to paraphrase your role PM in the game thread.

No zombie talk (game related communications after you are night killed or lynched)

No editing posts.

MECHANICS:

The game days will be 16 hours long and the nights will be 8 hours long. Players can send me their night actions before the game day ends if they need to.

I will announce the day/night schedule in this thread once DAY 1 has been completed. I will do my best to accommodate the Regent's time zone and usual online availability in choosing the end times for game days.

Night actions are due at least 1 hour before the game day starts. Night actions that I don't receive will be lost, not randomized.

The vanilla town role PM is in the following format:
You are <character name> and you win when all threats to town are eliminated.

It is taking a while for the votes to trickle in. There are still 6 votes outstanding. So I am going to put a time limit on it. The deadline for getting your Regent votes to me is 1 AM GMT Thursday/9 PM US ET tonight (Wednesday), or...5 hours 43 minutes from the time of this post.

Kudos go to Marion Zimmer Bradley herself. I changed the POV, did a bit of transition here and there, and shortened the scene quite a bit. It's as true to the novel as I can make it.
