The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

edit: wrong thread
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

He's not so little; taller than me by far! He's doing fine, thanks! He has a bit of asthma from the wildgrass pollen, and had a reaction to his medication. It's not an abnormal reaction, just not one he's ever had before.Blip wrote:I will be fast asleep by then, but it's fine by me anyway...

What is BST? I'm sorry but I don't know when the rounds start and finish... are we on 12hr rounds starting/finishing from the end of today's round? If so, that's 10pm my time... I won't get online until the last hour or so of the round. FYI

Re: Simple 1 Peanuts
I think it might be an idea to make these games hemisphere specific - maybe have two games on at the same time, an SH version and a NH version.
This isn't a complaint... I played like shit in this game, and people in different places are disadvantaged in other games I run/play in, but it's pretty hard to get fully involved in the game when you can only post in the first few hours of a round when nobody is doing anything, or the last hour when lynchings are all settled.
I think we might get better games if all the players in them can reasonably be expected to be on at the same time.

hemisphere specific games might solve the problem but then we loose something don't we ?
make the game days 48hr ? it slows it all down but everyone gets a chance to play ?

I like the numbers and the range of personalities and gamestyles we have with the full number playing a game. I support the longer day idea ... oblivion suggested it earlier too.

I like the involvement with all you quaint colonials too. I'd miss it.

Shouldn't there be some voting for who to lynch and who to make Mayor ?

BST is British Summer Time - GMT + 1. Day is 15 hours long and night is 9 hours long.Twinkie wrote:What is BST? I think it would be worth trying a 24 hour day cycle sometime to see if that helps people who feel they aren't able to participate enough. The hardest bit to juggle is nightfall, no matter how long the day is. Currently it's too late for most people in the UK and too early for many in AU/NZ.
Re: Simple 1 Peanuts
How about a 24 hour day/24 hour night ? That does stretch it out, but it gives everyone plenty of time to contribute, no matter what their role is ... and it might also be easier for players to keep track of times with it starting and finishing at the same time each 24 hours, and perhaps the easiest to manage from the GM's perspective?oblivion wrote:BST is British Summer Time - GMT + 1. Of course that would take it away from the original idea of these faster games, somewhat ...

I think 16 hour day rounds are best. No one should sleep more than 15 hours per day, so everyone is bound to be awake at least once during the day round. The night action people will just have to cope (the sneaky, stabby bastards)
