Re: Scum thread
We really did just jump right onto vir's hook didn't we?
At least it looks like ghat is going down today and that shouldn't finger any of us.

It will probably make DP tomorrow's leading lynch candidate, unless the seer outs a scum view. Right now, I don't see any way to prevent that.Uselesstwit wrote:We really did just jump right onto vir's hook didn't we?

Re: Scum thread
Why would it finger DP, he didn't vote for him?

Re: Scum thread
Because of Virphen's line of reasoning, which mantisdreamz has picked up. Ani looks town, therefore either DP or Ghat are scum according to their line of reasoning. It doesn't make logical sense IMO, but that's what they are thinking. If Ghat avoids the lynch today this will carry on another day. If not, then when he proves town, the suspicion will most likely come around to DP.Uselesstwit wrote:Why would it finger DP, he didn't vote for him?

Re: Scum thread
So we kill mantis tonight and avoid her following that train of thought tomorrow, and if suspicion lands on me I claim I'm being framed and try to swing it back at the monkey.oblivion wrote:Because of Virphen's line of reasoning, which mantisdreamz has picked up. The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Re: Scum thread
i must admit this game is a lot more confusing than I thought it would be. Some of the arguments being but forward are truly based on the most half assed guesses I've ever seen. I'm kinda glad I got to be scum the first time out, with no info I'd be flailing like mad.

Re: Scum thread
OR, If I am likely to be suspect number one tomorrow anyway, Can I kill Ani tonight?

We can try that, though we also have to worry about the seer outing in the next day or two with one or more scum views, along with clearing a couple of town players.DP wrote:So we kill mantis tonight and avoid her following that train of thought tomorrow, and if suspicion lands on me I claim I'm being framed and try to swing it back at the monkey.oblivion wrote:Because of Virphen's line of reasoning, which mantisdreamz has picked up. I'd be a lot happier if the lynch votes weren't so catalyzing, but that's the nature of mafia.

I'm going to avoid voting today, at least that way there isn't a pattern of me voting to kill innocents.oblivion wrote:We can try that, though we also have to worry about the seer outing in the next day or two with one or more scum views, along with clearing a couple of town players.DP wrote:So we kill mantis tonight and avoid her following that train of thought tomorrow, and if suspicion lands on me I claim I'm being framed and try to swing it back at the monkey.oblivion wrote:Because of Virphen's line of reasoning, which mantisdreamz has picked up. Re: Scum thread
Are people really going to listen to mantis again tomorrow, he'll have been the swing vote for innocents pretty much the whole game. If we kill him however, every word he says will be absolute.
I'm not sure how to get around this, although killing anim, would be funny. Right now twinkie, witti, blip and redial have me the most concerned. Magixz, and sifaka are just sowing confusion.
Like I said earlier, what these people come up with seems really odd to me, so i'm just going to follow your guys leads.

Re: Scum thread
It seems pretty odd to me, too. Mafia skills are pretty thin on the ground. There's a whole lot of prior history that gets imported into every game. And since to some extent people keep playing out old grudge matches, the prior history does have some slight relevance. Just enough relevance to keep people coming back to it. And I guess scum teams keep incorporating that into their strategies. It's a vicious cycle, and I don't think the level of play will improve a lot unless the cycle is broken.Uselesstwit wrote:Are people really going to listen to mantis again tomorrow, he'll have been the swing vote for innocents pretty much the whole game. I think Ani has been scummy every time I killed him.oblivion wrote:It seems pretty odd to me, too. Mafia skills are pretty thin on the ground. What about each of them has you concerned?Uselesstwit wrote:Are people really going to listen to mantis again tomorrow, he'll have been the swing vote for innocents pretty much the whole game. If we kill him however, every word he says will be absolute.

Redial seems inept to me - that's part of why I'm picking on her.
Twinkie worries me. She's quiet and she's self-assured, which makes me think she could be a special, but maybe that's how she always plays. I've been trying to subtly support her in the game thread without following her votes. She's not having any of that.

witti is quiet also, but we may at some point be able to use that against him (unless he's a special in which case it could blow up in our faces).
Blip isn't quiet. So far she seems to be barking up the wrong trees, though.
Re: Scum thread
Apparently when he's town, he's a huge distraction to his side. I'm trying to keep him from getting lynched for that reason.DP wrote:I think Ani has been scummy every time I killed him.oblivion wrote:It seems pretty odd to me, too.
