Gotta admit that I see every weird variation of Mafia as an assassin game. I've read the Kingmaker rules, and I really don't see much benefit to Town showing their cards.

it makes the kingmaker's job of picking the next person to decide who gets lynched a complete crapshoot.
From the wiki:
Assassin
You are a member of a band of Assassins that have secretly ruled the Kingdom for 100 years. You and your Assassin partner, OtherGuy, recently learned that a new Kingmaker has risen up among the townsfolk, and that he is appointing Kings in an attempt to rid your band from the Kingdom! The two of you must work together to defeat the Kingmaker's efforts before you are eliminated, and may plan together outside of this thread. Each night, the two of you may choose a target to kill. Also, there is a chance the Kingmaker may pick you or your brother as King, so try to look like a good little villager. You win with the ASSASSINS!
they are going to be picking off town at night. If the kingmaker also gives one or both of them a shot at selecting the day kill you can 100% count on the kill being a town player. Town needs to play PRO-TOWN in order to win this game. with 14 players, we can afford to lose SOME town players to lynch. but if the kingmaker and kings can't figure out who is town, the assassins will win this game.

Makes my head spin trying to figure whether or not this seems correct.

Until then . . .

Well town needs to convince the kingmaker that they are town and worthy enough to be king. I think town needs to show their cards so that the kingmaker can make a better decision

In that regard, this is not unlike other mafia game in that the assassins will be trying to hide among and come across as innocent villagers. AFAIK none of us have any 'cards' to show other than our scum hunting. It's up to the kingmaker to decide who seems genuine enough to crown, and up to the king to decide who's scummy enough to kill. We have to scum hunt in order to help the kingmaker and the king make the best decisions for the village.

Sorry for not returning, I thought we had plenty of time - didn't hoist in that days might end at the whim of the King.

And that was quite some whim - what happened to taking input from the peasants? FoS Feck for being irrational and undemocratic.

Also Mono for the special hunting and Zigmen for saying we ought to keep quiet - town have no reason to shut up. Do we really want another game like the last one?

asking whether a game should have specials isn't special hunting. Special hunting is asking around for who is a special.

Yeh that's a worry. Can someone just clarify why it was Feck that was day 1 king? ie is that a random thing or does the kingmaker choose the king before the game starts?

Gib, Feck was crowned by the Kingmaker on Night 0. I guess the Kingmaker picks a new monarch tonight for tomorrow.

I'd still like to know why you picked UT out of thin air, Feck. I know he was a no show, but there are others.

Which no show was I meant to pick ? ,or should I have picked one of the ones that posted a lot (hiding in plain sight ???) or someone that only posted once ?
or pick a side between Zig and OB ? or maybe I should have taken the easy way out asked for a vote so I could blame others if they chose wrong ?

How many times has it been said if you snooze you lose ? I picked one of the no shows ....I picked wrong .
