In the peanut gallery commenting on what role players are allowed to reveal of the PM's they received...

I am going to interpret the "paraphrase" clause in the rules about PM's the way a lawyer would.
In otherwords, a legal loophole so big you could drive a truck through it.
I'm sure you choose your words carefully and no doubt this rule was very well thought out before the game commenced.
I dont imagine there will be any attempt to clarify the rule mid-game, in a way which would further restrict the ability to "paraphrase".
Lion (IRC)

I don't see anything wrong with what you did. Sure, it's not really a PM--there's nothing P about it--so I'm not sure if the loophole even applied to it.

Also, I haven't edited a single post since. I'm so proud of myself. It's really hard to break the habit.

Hi Mephisopheles,
I'm just saying the game might depend on our being able to convey as much detail as possible from Oblivions game role PM's into the game thread.
Lion (IRC)

Ok, I think I see what you're asking about, and paraphrasing your role PM would not be against the rules. The purpose of the rule is to keep the game from devolving into a "compare PMs" game, or worse, a game about photoshop skills.

Say my role was Monorail Cat. I could post "Hey, I'm Monorail Cat, and I can switch two players every night. On night 1 I switched Joe-Bob with Bob-Joe." I could also hint around about being the game's bus driver. And, I could lie about any of the above if I were not the bus driver.

See how "paraphrase" turned into "hint"? Tomorrow I am going to HINT about some PM's

Vote Witticism.
Now I have no fucking idea what to do. One player who I was highly suspect of previously but am slowly changing my mind about votes for a player I've suggested is suspiciously acting out of character (but I said that about Virphen !).

Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

If Witticism is innocent, will I be blamed for leading the charge against another innocent ? Am I being set up ? You know, if by some chance I survive this round, the bad guys won't whack me, as you all will be baying for my blood tomorrow and I'll be a surefire lynching. They'll use their time tonight to go after more productive game.

Unless you're certain of hitting a bad guy, you should vote for me now. I'd hate to see a special power innocent get taken out by the lynch mob and give the bad guys a 2nd and 3rd chance tonight.

If it is a tie between R.A. and Durro then Witticism might decide the outcome...if our "Mayor" can drag himself away from the tennis.
At first I felt sorry for him and his real life kitties ...until he put up a Sniggering Mutley .gif next to the "Lion is crazy strange" ad hom.
A brilliant politician would know how to distract people with something intended to win the sympathy vote.
Our not so deft Mayor wasn't astute enough to realise the inadvertent use of a .gif from Wack Races - an arrogant smart-arsed DOG - isnt funny in Lolcatville.
Now I just feel sorry for Witticisms cats - I say they need Witti's undivided attention from now on.

Bye bye Witticism.

I know that we’re working mostly in the dark here, but there are a few things that don’t add up.

I realize too that I could keep my yap shut, hide, play it safe, but truth be told, I have F-all to hide.

1 – Why are we trusting Witti? Yes he’s our mayor, but that was done on day 1, we simply elected him with no prior knowledge of innocence or guilt.

2 - Ghatanothoa is a sub for Tigger, but was Tigger innocent? We don’t know that!

3 – We did boob by lynching Virphen and assumed there was a voting block, but what if there really was one that was totally independent of Virphen? Virphen was shown to be innocent, the others (for whatever reason) voted with him but does that automatically mean they were innocent too or were they simply ‘playing’ the innocent part and just going along for the ride?

They are, in order of voting:

1 – Twinkie
2 - Animavore
3 - sifaka

Durro and I found that suspicious, and yes, I just mentioned Durro and I read that as you will, but there’s no collusion between us. I’d be the height of a fool to even mention that were it to be true.

In addition, while many are looking at Durro and me because of that error in judgment, what about this guy:

http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 25#p440230

He’s conveniently flying in under the radar by offering excuses as to his absence.

And there’s one more that found that ‘apparent’ voting block to be suspect.

http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 25#p440336

So it’s not as cut and dry as some of you would believe.

And since there were actually 4 of us that thought there might be a voting block, odd that this was posted:

http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 75#p440777

Only two of us are mentioned. Did he (conveniently) miss the other 2 posts?

4 – Durro is far too willing to die. Anyone that is Mafia wouldn’t play such a dangerous game, at least the probability is that they wouldn’t. Historically Mafia members will play low-key, never openly ask to be lynched (be careful what you wish for… is a true adage) and the other Mafia members wouldn’t take too kindly to one of their own intentionally trying to be lynched which would decimate their numbers.

5 – These followed one after the other, within 13 minutes of each other.

http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 00#p441091

http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 00#p441122

My, my... was that just a coincidence? Not sayin', just sayin'.

While there are so many variables to consider right now, I’ll let my vote for RappingAgnostic stand for now since I believe him to be mafia, but I’m highly suspect that our mayor is mafia too and a few others.

If it's tied, I guess I have the ability to break the tie.

However, I won't risk killing off a potential special innocent by voting for someone I'm not sure of. If I'm wrong - again ! - then I deserve to get the boot anyhow, as I'm weighing down the innocent team by guessing incorrectly and influencing people in the wrong direction.

Good night. It's 11pm here and I'm dog tired. I'll check on the aftermath in the morning. I'm leaving completely up to you guys, as I don't want the responsibility and accusations that go along with an incorrect guess, particularly when it would be perceived as a selfish self-preservation vote.

p.s. Am I allowed one post-mortem post that says "I told you so" after I die ?

p.p.s. I'm coming Ceiling Cat into your loving paws.

And no, there's no collusion between Skinny Puppy and I. I actually was going to put him on my suspicious list along with Animavore, Sifaka and Twinkie, but thought better of it.

SP - I do have one question for you. You're good friends with Witti. Witti and I are friends too. Is it out of character for him to disregard my obvious sincerity and honourable behaviour once I got my brain engaged and working ? I may be seeing shadows once more, but it seems a little strange to me. What motivation would he have to see an innocent friend go down the toilet ? You know him better than I do. What are your thoughts on the matter ? Maybe I'm just too suspicious in the view of others after my false start with Virphen yesterday, but he's not giving me the benefit of the doubt like I'd expect him to.

Goodnight. 11:13pm. Ugh.

Skinny Puppy and Durro should vote for Rapping Agnostic.
Durro should pray to Ceiling Cat to smite the false messiah.

Nahhh. Wasn't one of the first saints St Stephen ? I'm going to be martyred for the cause I think, and given that my real name is Steve, it's quite appropriate.

Hi Durro,
He literally "saw the Kingdom" with his own eyes before he "tasted death". (Another discussion about prophesy fulfilled sometime perhaps)
Here is my prediction.
