Re: lolcat Mafia Peanut Gallery
That could work, especially since it's day 1. But it depends entirely on the role of the player who was lynched.
I'll see if I can find someone who isn't currently in the game, just in case.

Hi Virphen, virphen wrote:That wouldn't be practical if the person lynched was mafia, got lynched, and then came back to replace an innocent.Durro wrote:What if the first innocent lynched gets a 2nd life ? Then if Virphen is telling the truth, he won't be unfortunately lynched off in the 1st round like what happened with the last game when he was blown up in the crossfire for being the only innocent that voted for the suicide bomber. If he's a bad kitteh, it goes to the next innocent lynched off whenever that is.oblivion wrote:One of the players has told me he won't be able to play after all.
Anyone have ideas for a substitute player?
I think Durro was suggesting the substute player would come into the game as soon as an innocent player got lynched/whacked.

PS - Excellent mind game you got going there Durro. Only an innocent person would suggest that solution....or so you would think. Reincarnation.Hmmm. I like it. Its gooood.

Yeah, you're right lion.
I withdraw my objection, but given my obvious conflict of interest will make no further comment.

I havent seen a players summary list showing that purrrrson's global lolcation, time zone, gender
and basic impartial info about how honest they are.
In meown opinion, that would be helpful.

I can see where time zone might be helpful in terms of when to expect an answer to questions, but location and gender are not relevant to this game's design.Lion IRC wrote:I havent seen a players summary list showing that purrrrson's global lolcation, time zone, gender

If people want to supply any of that info, they can list it here and I'll add it to the game thread OP.

It doesn't matter how honest you are in real life - lying is part of the game, so take it for granted that everyone who is guilty and some that are innocent are lying their little arses off.Lion IRC wrote:I havent seen a players summary list showing that purrrrson's global lolcation, time zone, gender

If it matters to anyone, I'm in NZ. Currently GMT +12. I don't think any other personal information is the slightest bit relevant, it's a role playing game.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

I'm in California. currently GMT - 7. I'll actually be sleeping during most of the night time cycles of this game.
I have a phone conference tomorrow that starts about an hour before day 2 will start. I should be able to multi-task enough to get the game day started, but if I'm a few minutes late, that''s why.

I'm suggesting that if the first person lynched or whacked is an innocent, give them another life as an indeterminate role - innocent or not.
If they're guilty, keep them out (as they know too much and couldn't have an innocent role) and defer the 2nd chance life to the next innocent killed.

Re: lolcat Mafia Peanut Gallery
The overriding concern is to get the player replaced asap. If we get to day 3 or later with a player just entering the game, it makes it very difficult for people to get a read on that player prior to endgame. If I line up someone who is willing to start tonight or tomorrow, I'll go with them. If the role hasn't been filled by then, I'll be open to retreading a dead player.Durro wrote:I'm suggesting that if the first person lynched or whacked is an innocent, give them another life as an indeterminate role - innocent or not.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is a bad idea. You have all the posts that player made in their first go, their votes, any temporary grudges built up. You also have the greater potential for changes in behaviour to be noted, and more confusion.oblivion wrote: If the role hasn't been filled by then, I'll be open to retreading a dead player.
I think if you can't replace this player with another, you should just leave it - if the character has a power and don't use it, tough shit. And if that character turns out to be mafia and ends up being the last one living, you should end the game with an innocent win.

I so should have got a sock puppet to play this game with

I've played in games where we subbed in players who had been killed earlier in the game and in games where someone who hadn't been playing before was subbed in. You are right that people's impressions carry over. so does the player's earlier revealed alignment. Thats' why I'd prefer to bring in a player who hadn't originally signed up.virphen wrote:The more I think about it, the more I think this is a bad idea. I have high hopes I can resolve this in a way that penalizes no one.
