I forgot about the object. Amok spoke of gifts. The two did not compute. Simple from my point of view. Complex in so many other ways.

mz, I'm not an indie and I don't think we have an indie. I think we have a town Thief.

Then my reading is amended by your assertion.

why do you have me as scum again? i'm not afraid to lead a bw on you. but it just so happens, that as b.t said - that you didn't have to offer the info about the gift. and also, the talk of looking at your PM and seeing that scum was not mentioned made me feel a bit better about you.

Because I'm clueless town. And I can't find a plausible reason to vote for any one else. I don't actually want it to be you. It's always you. Of it's not you then I think I will be trying to make the case against def or bt. Ksen blunder? Or clever ploy?

I'm not prepared to see mantis lynched today. There's no obvious reason to do so. She's been playing a town game afaict.

Whether you are or not, and one of you is town, def and mz are pinging hard. One of you two is going to get my vote unless you can come up with a lot more substantial evidence against mantis.

I'll go with your judgment about mantis. Since it's not me, then def will get my vote.

thanks b.t. i think we've got a good read of each other. it was brains that were stolen from me last night.

and going back to look at ksen's post:

Hey b.t. you know it is scum that is looking for brains, right?
^this makes me wonder. ksen might have foolishly admitted that he knew that it was brains that the scum team was looking for. being that he is on the scum team -- this makes me think that the thief is actually scum as well. and not an indie -- or not necessarily, town.

mz certainly didn't have to volunteer the information. It's his excuse for not volunteering it earlier that makes it look like he decided it would be townish to have an object and made a fumbling post about it. I'm not assuming it's a lie. I'm just pointing out that it is very odd, given the importance we have placed on the exact wording of role pms in this game, that mz would consider that part of the role pm as inconsequential enough to forget.
Regardless of Mant's experience elsewhere, 90% if her experience with me is on RS, so that's what I need to go with.

The stuff about voting Ksen early... the notion that I'm scum is a real long shot. If she's down to me and MZ, then it seems that I have the town leaning over MZ. But she went with me. It's either poor play or scum play. We'll see how it plays out.

I'm neutral on MZ. If Mant comes up town, then I might point to him. Feck is also neutral, though I'm trying to remember how Amok got cleared with everyone.

amok wrote:OK, just thinking out loud here, so to speak.

1) The most likely alignment at the start was two Scum, one Indie, seven Town.

2) In a game of just 10 total, it seems logical that the Indie's win condition would be quite simple, but just surviving with either Town or Scum is too easy. It has to be stealing either a certain number of gifts or stealing a specific one.

3) It's probably more important today to lynch the Indie, than the last Scum (another NK & we can still win - barely, but still possible), but another theft might net the Thief either the magic number or the magic item.

Does anyone see a problem with my logic? I'm posting this early, because I've been wrong as often as I've been right, and I'd like input.
Except it seems clear we have a Thief, and the role of Thief according to mafia wiki is ordinarily a town role. We don't want to lynch the thief. The object the thief is looking for may be important to town, not scum. That's why I gave the thief a hint about my object.

We need to lynch scum. I'm still seeing mz and def as scummy.

Def, besides accusing you, what other reason do you have for thinking mantis is scummy. Because just about everyone has questioned you, so why do you find her more scummy than the rest of us?

Why, for example, don't you find mz's absent-minded 'I forgot about the object' scummy? Because I do.
Hmm. Is the role of Thief as ordinary Town hard and fast, though?

Wiki does suggest it's a Town role, but I found one site that says it's neutral with a last-standing win condition, another that says it's a Scum role and another that suggests it can go either way.

Is the protocol for rationalia that it has to be the basic version, or do games sometimes go outside the box? If ever there was a time for that, I'd think it would be in a game with very few players, like this one.

I'm willing to be convinced I'm barking up the wrong tree about worrying more about the Thief than the Scum, by the way.
It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.

I have no idea how I got cleared, either.

That's a plausible read, but I think there is at least one other non-brain object which is being searched for - the thing my object is not. (How's that for paranoid obfuscation? :D)

I read ksen's remark as confusion over whether scum or town were zombies. Or as a simple brainfart. But you could be right.
