Feck, you got any thoughts on this?
Well it seems to fit but what it means I don't know I guess scum might know or be all over me tonight Praying has helped them with that .
I would like protecting tonight if town has anyone left who can help.
:?

You're already really suspicious and now you're asking the doc to protect you. It looks to me that you're asking to doc to waste their action tonight.

i iike this idea - a positive view of scum would give us some actual data

Honestly ob what are the chances there isn't a seer? I mean really, with this setup how hosed would town be without at least a few clues to go on at some point in the game?
I'm armed. If I haven't been viewed it's a waste to view me.

I hope there's a seer UT, but for a 14 player game town apparently has/had a buttload of specials. A mass out would have had scum playing whack-a-mole for days.
Uselesstwit wrote:I agree it does feel like a strong town team, but without info it's a directionless town team. Somewhere we have got to get at least one solid lead otherwise we might as well get out a coin and start flipping for who is scum because town will tear itself apart.

Also Zigmen, what are you going to do about aza? Something has to be done soon, having that big a question mark on day four will be completely unfair.
Where does the "buttload of specials" for town idea come from? AFAICT there's a doc and a vig (who's possibly been recruited) ... I've gotten an inkling of another one but won't point to where I got that from ... This hardly constitutes a "buttload".
as mantis would say, that's what i thought

as for the ratio, i'm guessing three, scum blocker, and two point adders, but to be honest i'm not really grasping why the points added dropped last night, unless feck is right and arming scum weakens them and bolero was in fact scum.
I don't think that that is a very good theory... that arming scum makes them weaker. It just seems way too complicated.

gib, you asked what posts by Irre seemed sort of white-knighty regarding you. Here is the one that caught my attention today.

This was in reply to a post where I think I first voiced my niggling concerns about the substance/frequency of your participation (which, yes I know were exacerbated by the TR game and by the dns error stuff -- I still wanted more posts from you so I could firm up my read)
irretating wrote:

and I'd like to see some points on irre and gib at least for a while to see if that focuses their attention.

I kinda feel like the GMs should let us know 1) if they are looking for a sub for Aza, 2) how long they'll let it ride, and 3) what they plan to do if they can't find a sub.

Town needs to know whether it's ok to just let Aza drift or not.
I think gib's posting in the wrong thread is more townish clueless. I'm leaning town on him.

I armed gonzo, see my post.
This made me think about yesterday and I think she said something about your townishness every time you came up.

irretating wrote:OK I have read the threads.

this is a really bad time for me (kids in bath) but quickly: most suspicious are gonzo and mantis

most towny are charlou, ob, gib and UT

I will post actual reasons for that, but I have to get offline now

vote gonzo for not playing at all like the FF game

goddam ratz is so damn slow I think there have been ten posts
irretating wrote:Hi oblivion.

Shit this thread moves fast. Now the kids are at school and I have some time online. Apologies to everyone, but my first priority (after IRL stuff) will be the FF mafia game, seeing as I've invested 2 years of my life into it :twitch:

OK, I had the benefit of reading the whole of day 1 after day 1 ended, with fresh eyes of being new to the game. I think charlou is legit, because she outed after clearly thinking long and hard about it (after aza's suggestion of a mass outing) and she got a pile of points overnight. I think oblivion is townish because she's been doing proper scum hunting (putting people under pressure, moving on to others). UT is someone that I have a good read on, because of how often we've played mafia together. Outing as a vanilla town I think helps town, though unless we think a mass outing is a good thing I don't recommend other vanilla towns out because then scum can special hunt more easily. Gib indicated a very townish thing that I note mantis has also picked up on. That gib didn't get a load of points overnight suggests to me that mantis is town.

MZ going after charlou today is so weird, even for MZ standards, so I have him as very suspicious. Bolero is pinging, too, following charlou but now putting her doubts about her. Gonzo, I know you'll never let me live down that vote for you on FF, but your game is quite different. I'll try not to trolley track on you, but so far my vote stays.

Aza needs to participate. His mass out idea is one I'd have had at that time in the game, because I tend not to read PG and rules much. I have done this game, just to get my head around this codeword and points thing.

It looks like a vig and scum 'hit' overnight, to me, but the targets seem wrong...they would both be scum targets, and the vig might be having a shocker. MZ has dropped a couple of threats in the thread, I'd like to hear more from him.
then she overreacted to your joke about your town tell. That looked a little odd, unless it was maybe a counter-joke.

someone tell me in the postgame about this towntell i have, i could find a use for that :evilmoustachetwiddle:
OK that makes me nervous. I have to re-evaluate you and mantis.

And, what is up with that fuzzy thing? I saw it on TR, too.
then there's this:
irretating wrote:I'd like more pressure on Gonzo. I can see why people are after mantis. I thought her seeing the same thing I saw about gib meant she was town, but gib has denied dropping a crumb, and in any case scum would have gunned for charlou, so she's not on my town list any more.
Going back and looking at this is interesting. there's an entanglement of you and mantis in her posts, and whatever it was that made her think you and mantis were town, she changed her mind. And yet she still says she thinks you are both town. she pursued Gonzo over mantis yesterday, and she reaffirmed that she thinks you are both town today.

I am leaning town wrt you, gib. I'm undecided about mantis. her posts since day 2 nightfall have looked far more townish to me than her earlier stuff.

The person I am most confused about is probably MZ. I have a feeling that I am confusing people also due to a lot of course changes and some frenzy about people changing directions abruptly at nightfall.

I know that the abrupt change stuff often comes from townish confusion, but it still leaves me very uneasy when things change drastically in the last half hour or so.

That's a point -- but, it might also be a moot point because surely at least everyone is going to get a lynch vote on them at some point, so will be armed anyway with 1 night action.

If Irre is scum, I'm concerned about gib.

I think Irre's had a few votes today, so I'm going to vote gib

lol, is that what he's on about? That's actually worse than trying to kill me at TR for something I said in this game.
in that game feck would have killed either you or me if i hadnt said iwas going to kill you. And once again, we won that one.

But seeing as you've brought this up i'll dig out the post:

Uselesstwit wrote:Okay, i'm back. Feck still seems a bit flaily to me, especially in contrast to his game over at tr. aza is also a big worry, lately his scum game has been quiet and his town game forceful, this isn't the forceful game. Gonzo is actually playing now so i'm getting less concerned about him.

As for the mechanics of this game, i'm wondering if it would be in towns interest to just pile the votes up on one person. Since ten is the most votes you can possibly get going over that every day would still only be one dead town person. The problem with that is it won't allow us to preasure people with points, but if we don't have a clear scum target it would be best to leave as many town at zero as poss.
my bold

(UT was town doc, i was town vig and Feck scum in the tr game we're talking about.) UT, you didn't know Feck was scum so what was the bold all about?

fuzzy explained - he and i were chatting like 2 days ago on IM and discussing the importance of old skool classic insults, 3 in particular:

fuck off, get bent, and go boil your head.

A day or 2 later i see 'get bent' spoken by UT in this game. Now it could be like one of those pattern recognition things when you get a new car or dog or w/e and u start spotting the same model all over the place. And fuzzy i feel bad for dragging our private conversation into this, i really do. But unless i see some evidence that UT has used this phrase before i really have to wonder if he picked this up from you.

What do others think?

My voting record up front [UT, gonzo, Irre]

I am no closer to knowing much at all except there is no way Irre is bussing gonzo. I've put myself in the irre=scum camp.
I'll qualify that. Irre could be bussing gonzo given the spectre of seer views
Praying has to be town, but she will be the only one (i think) out of the reach of the vig.
Everything I've seen about Oblivion indicates town. I'm trusting myself on this one.
Mantis still looks scummy to me. Having her on five points is interesting.
gib is being very diligent in analysing every post. maybe town.
diva, seems like her town game but I'm wary of her acting skills.
bolero, avoiding some fairly simple questions about her score. I am genuinely confused about whether she is armed. We have her down as armed, but I would like to hear it from her. She seems reluctant to share this. Scum I think.
Feck, basically claiming special. I think we give the benefit of the doubt on that for one night. Otherwise what right does he have to ask for protection.
I'll mention the aza thing. we really can't ignore this. If he's town, fine. If he's scum, he could be sitting on 5 points.
UT, undecided. But I will say he's been much more active in this game than I recall for a long time. This indicates some freedom in his role. He and I have promoted some different approaches to this game. I don't outright disagree with his approach. My only concern is leaving one player behind out of reach of being alarmed at end game.

I think the morning will reveal more. The votes applied by scum will have to be carefully chosen. If the vig wants to exercise some restraint, it could be very revealing.

fuzzy, no read.
charlou, town

I haven't caught up with everything yet, but just one this is really bugging me:

MZ - why the fuck are you zero-ing in on me and my point tally? It makes me suspicious as hell of you. Oblivion's been cagey about just how many points were added to her, but I don't see any harrassment of her for it. I thought we were all agreed that the less scum knew about our passcodes, the better? I can tell you I'm armed - I've said it already - I even had a little tantrum about it! Apart from that, why the hell are you so determined to find out what W stands for in my codeword? I am keeping it secret for a very damn good reason - we do not know what scum know about the codewords, and how that might be used against us.

Now get the hell over it and move it.
