As I said, clash of styles.
There is an implied belief from the TR renegades, that their way is
the way.
I don't necessarily agree.
When, you talk about "Tr renegades", Ratz members who are also members of TR will wonder if you include them in the renegades.
Your brush could be perceived as wider than you intend.
People who know me know that i mean Bart Simpson and the Green Mantis
Everyone else played impeccably.

So do I, there are some great players over there. One of the things I like most over here is it's a relaxing, low pressure game. Not all games have to be like the ones at TR for people to enjoy them.
I played a game here as the last scum which was not very relaxing. I ended up talking to myself like a lunatic. The only reason it's low pressure is when it ends before it starts because there aren't all that many people. Which is why it would be nice if the blasted TR renegades would suck it up and learn how to play nice and join us. Raise the pressure.

Sledging is part of the game. It's possible to sledge someone without namecalling, but it makes it a little harder to pressure a player and see if they react in a scummy way. scum players are under more pressure than town players because they are smaller in number, know who each other are, and have to act like they are as clueless as town. That bit of extra pressure in a game thread is sometimes enough to get someone to crack and reveal their alignment by their actions.
Anyway. Ratz isn't the only site with mafia that has rules about namecalling. It's obviously possible to play the game without namecalling. Animavore usually manages it. And I think I do, too.

I said "played" not "behaved". I don't mind taking on the rude or the unruly. I happen to think that those two players did not play within the spirit of the game played at this site.

The two concerned were not suspended for anything they did in relation to the game itself, they were suspended for continual abuse of other members after a reminder to heed the guidelines and warning of imminent suspension.
Up until today, ratz mafia games have been played effectively and enjoyably, and without players resorting to behaviour that breaches our guidelines.

I suspect that up until today mods did not get their dirty boots into the game thread to threaten players who did not breach the guidelines in the first place.
Surely you can see how that would generate a reaction.

Reminders to play nice are hardly threatening. The reaction was disproportionate, to say the least.

Yup. And to ruin a game that oblivion worked hard to organize and get running, is pathetic.
Who cares if the infamous post was reported, or just seen by a member of staff?

Just woke up what ..have you lot done ? Since when did playing Mafia mean you can insult the hell out of people in a personal manner ,why did nobody tell me!!!
Did we have the one where someone defends their vicious attitude by saying it's just the internet (or in this case the game) but cries like a baaaaaaaaaby when they get a gentle reminder to play nice ?
