Yes, it will open two windows, one on your pc and one at the remote site. Ideally, both sides are identical, and you can drag and drop from one to the other.Gawdzilla wrote:Frankly, I'd rather do the structure on my PC if at all possible. Be very fucking careful when touching the site via ftp because you can do a lot of damage very easily.

On the left is your PC, and on the right is the server you've just connected to by FTP:Gawdzilla wrote:Sorry, malf'd question. Can I read the structure of a folder on my PC with filezilla?

Do you mean something that will generate a description or map of the file/floder structure, or something that will generate a sitemap.... ie. a map of the hyperlinks/pages of the site and how they are connected?Gawdzilla wrote:Okay, not what I'm looking for. (I have fireftp, btw.)

Uh, yeah, that. I have twenty two folders at the top level, and 400+ folders total, so something automatic would be very fucking nice for me to understand Patrick's site structure. I'm eventually going to have add files and they have to go in the right places or chaos(er) will result. Plus, right now I'm snipe hunting, and that's tedious when you have to open every fracking folder individually.Pappa wrote:Do you mean something that will generate a description or map of the file/floder structure, or something that will generate a sitemap.... ie. a map of the hyperlinks/pages of the site and how they are connected?Gawdzilla wrote:Okay, not what I'm looking for. Even a DOS command that would send output to a file would help.

There is a DOS command called TREE that will print the directory structure for you: http://www.computerhope.com/treehlp.htmGawdzilla wrote:Uh, yeah, that. That'll help you get an understanding of the overall structure.
I'd recommend downloading a copy of Komodo Edit if you plan on editing any of these files in a text editor. It's probably the best I've found and it'll help you treat the whole thing as a project rather than just a load of files.
