Kimchee is good food.

Yeah, but Wal-mart kimchee is gotta be garbage. Can you imagine a buyer from Arkansas selecting your kimchee for you?FBM wrote:Kimchee is good food.

Re: Veggie Oil as Substitute for Diesel
I take it as a good sign that this thread is quiet.
The thought occurs (not sure why it took so long) that this same fuel could power a generator.
Now I'm wondering what sort of output (KW/hours) could be drawn before running into the fuel tax threshold for the UK.
Here in the UK one can produce 2500 litres per year before paying tax...but I wonder if a generator (powering a modest dwelling) would consume that much in a year. I'm thinking that if generators are economical enough then you could have free energy for life (barring repair and maintenance to the generator, of course).
*Scuttles off to look into diesel generator economy figures.*

I had the same idea and tracked down a diesel generator here in Korea a few years ago. Unfortunately, there's no way to hook it up to the mains here, so I couldn't figure out any way to profit from buying it. I've still got about 300 liters of veggie oil left. Car is still running fine on it.

It smells more like a kitchen where lots of different stuff is frying/burning at the same time. Beats the hell out of that diesel smell...

Anyone trying to gas themselves to death in their car would probably just end up feeling hungry and go for something to eat, I imagine...Kind of an incidental safety feature.

That, and there's no CO (or very little) in the exhaust...

Re: Veggie Oil as Substitute for Diesel
Veggie oil does have a carboxyl. So at one end the molecule is polar. Would veggie oil ethanol vlend better? Im thinking of cheap combustible emulsifier.
But Im not buying your gummed up old Kia.

Re: Veggie Oil as Substitute for Diesel
We dont have enugh veggie oil to burn for generators. The point of the veggie oil is that its portable. Coal runs cars poorly, you have to make CO from it.

I have actually heard of internal combustion engines that ran off coal dust.

The cars during the war ran on wood chips, burned to CO, fed to carburator. As long as you did not go uphill.

Re: Veggie Oil as Substitute for Diesel
In cold weather, I blend it with kerosene until the weather gets really cold, then I go back to straight diesel until Spring. I don't think it's gummed up internally. I drain the fuel filter from time to time, too.Tero wrote:Veggie oil does have a carboxyl. So at one end the molecule is polar. Would veggie oil ethanol vlend better?
