What bothers me the most is that I have to go back to Seth and admit that he was right. There really is a subset of atheists called "Atheists" (albeit, now, they are dubbing themselves "Atheist Plus").... and they really are as dickish as Seth made them out to be. And, there are enough of them, and they are vocal enough, to embarrass us all.Jaygray wrote:‘Atheism Plus’ sounds like an advertisement for new improved washing powder, and I would take any claims to its efficacy with the same truckload of salt I would use for any other piece of demographic marketing. I bet the name will fit on a T shirt wonderfully.
I would look twice at any idea with an FtB badge on it anyway, because as far as I am concerned they are totally discredited. Generalisation? Yep.
Also, if whoever has come up with this imagines that a doctrinaire approach to Atheism is anything other than abject silliness, then we are not exactly dealing with intellectual heavyweights.
However if they want their own train set to play with they’re welcome; it makes zero difference to me.

I intend to combat the movement through the medium of twee ceramic jewellery.

Re: The Atheism Plus "movement" -- good, bad, ugly?
Atheism has long been infiltrated by hoards of fakes who claim atheism because they "disagree" with certain religious tenets, yet they also believe in a concept of equality that could only be true under creationism.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Only Surly Amy is allowed to sell ceramic jewelry. If you try to sell your "fake" ceramic jewelry, you will have your nounce removed, with extreme prejudice.

If you refuse to denounce someone, does that automatically make you pronounce?Clinton Huxley wrote:I'm going to make a necklace that encapsulates all that.Coito ergo sum wrote:What????Clinton Huxley wrote:I intend to combat the movement through the medium of twee ceramic jewellery.

Is there really that many of them? Doesn't seem like something that'll get off the ground to me.Coito ergo sum wrote:What bothers me the most is that I have to go back to Seth and admit that he was right.
