Is the term "skepchick" offensive? Or, does it depend?

Post by Coito ergo sum » Fri Jul 27, 2012 4:49 pm

I was wondering if anyone finds the word "skepchick" offensive.

It is a sexist term, since it refers to women, as opposed to people inclusive of men.

It is derogatory, arguably, in that it refers to women as "chicks."

I prefer the terms "bint", "ho" or "gash".
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

It's cool. Sort of like African-Americans calling each other 'nigger'. But don't you do it honkey.

It does have a paradoxical element to it that makes it a bit ambiguous. I have thought that before actually but I don't really give a toss.

I thought it should be "skepgal."

How about "skepbroad?"

I've always wondered about this. Although I'm not in the least offended by it, it seems like one of those terms that would piss them off if someone called them by it.

Well, I find Skepchicks offensive as a group but that's not the question you're asking is it?

"Chick" needs to go because it employs a play on words and a taciltly agreed level of irony that was beyond them when they 'visited' here.

SkepChix? No, too much bubble gum in there... :ask:

Ratwombs? No, better not... :?

P Z Tips? :tea: Femathists? Humanyms? - No, better not employ three syllables. :bored:

Nope no use; Sorry. :dunno:

I've been inspired. Next time I meet a Skepchick I'm going to look her up and down and say 'Mmmhmm. That is a tasty burger!'

I'm not looking at that. I left that behind with my crimping iron in 1986.

You were 3 for more of 1986 than you were 4.
