I do think it was a remarkable coincidence that Pakistan unblocked RD.net roughly coinciding with me asking grassroots secularists in Pakistan if they knew anything about the supposed ban. And also a remarkable coincidence if I was the first person they heard about it from…

I wonder what made the Pakistani authorities change their mind? Maybe it was RDF and their staunch activism, urging people to rise up and give RDF money - with which it proposed to do, well, nothing in particular about the stated situation in Pakistan…

But well, if it wasn't RDF - I suppose it must have been all those brave grassroots groups - like the ones who said they'd been accessing the site everyday, had no idea about any supposed ban - and could find no evidence even when asking around. They must have swayed the Pakistani authorities.

Or maybe the Pakistani authorities just wanted to fuck with their heads at RDF - because they knew that people like me would start asking questions, and might threaten to make them look stupid, if it turned out they weren't really blocked at the time.

Yeah that was it, thanks, 2010! I may even figure out the password now. It was when my daughter was still somewhat connected to the Unitarian youth group. I was bored with my last religion fling and had read most of my Joseph McCabe. But that year my son still did his last scout work, so I was maintaining religion friendly attitudes, a sort of casual tolerance.
