DaveDildo can't even define feminism in the first place. How seriously are we to take any of his opinions then no matter how vociferously stated?

How many feminists does it take to define feminism?

None, because defining things is male-centric chauvinism! :lay:

Feminism is often subject to a No True Scotsman thing. If you point out something a prominent feminist advocates, and it sounds nutty, then folks say that it's not "really" feminism.

Some feminists say feminism is just about equal opportunity for women, or "equality." But, in reality, that isn't what most prominent feminists or feminist writings actually advocate. It's like a definitional shell game. It's just about equality on the one hand, and then it's about, like, "you can't say that in front of women" on the other.

In reality, if feminism was just about equality, it would be egalitarianism. And, if it was about equal rights for everyone and the betterment of humnkind, it would be called humanism.

Are you one of these people who thinks #blacklivesmatter is wrong because it should be #alllivesmatter?

No.

Do you think the answer to that question has anything at all to do with the issue about which I just posted? If so, what? If not, why ask me that question?

Reread your last paragraph and it should be obvious.

You appear to have a misconception as to the meaning of the phrase "has anything at all to do with."

If you can connect your question with my post, please do.

By boosting women doesn't mean one can't be interested in equality, the same as pointing out that black lives matter doesn't mean that white lives don't matter.

Certainly, but if you suggest that one can say certain things to men, but not to women, as feminism ultimately claims, then that is not equality. Equality would mean one can say the same things to men and women.

If one suggests that "women speak first" should be an enforced policy at universities, then one is not suggesting equality.

Egalitarianism is generally a political doctrine that all people should be treated as equals and have the same political, economic, social, and civil rights. Whereas feminism is the advocacy of women's rights (sometimes "on the grounds of" equality to men).

If one thinks feminism is "just about treating people equally in the political, economic, social and civil rights context, then that's egalitarianism or equalism. Advocating specifically for "women's" rights is not equality.

That doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad thing to advocate for women's rights. It may be that in certain areas women are disadvantaged to men, and the advocacy of their rights in a given area may equalize things. However, women are not across the board disadvantaged over men, and there are many areas where men are significantly disadvantaged to women. So, the general concept of advocacy of women's rights is not about overall equality.

Regarding your last paragraph, that's one opinion. Regarding the rest, equality is the goal, so boosting women (or POC) is not necessarily incompatible with that.

Of course women should speak first, then retire to the parlor. We'll take their suggestions under advisement over cigars and cognac in the billiards room.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Fine. Smoke a cigar.

Do whatever you want.
