I see bitcoin everywhere these days. I looked into it and then thought better of it when I found out that I'd have to buy some hardware before I could start earning bitcoin. How is that not going to look suspicious to regular folks like me?

You can purchase bitcoins directly in the market. You don't have to mine them yourself. In fact, I think mining is the preserve of big serious outfits now. All the easy mining was done years ago. Bitcoin is funny. It's tripled its price in a couple of months. People have been predicting its downfall since it first came out in 2010 (or whenever it was). But it just keeps going up. Now you've got Wall St types jumping on the bandwagon, as they can see how much profit they can actually drive themselves. Of course, when they dump it, it will fall sharply. It will probably be worth double in a month. But I wouldn't buy it. If ever there was a bubble, this is it. Its fundamental value basis is undermined by a host of newer and better cryptocurrencies.

It's a bit crazy. It's a terrible coin. Expensive and slow.

So I've officially become a shitcoin trader. I've chucked a couple of hundred from my earnings at steemit into a couple of cryptos. It's basically free money, so may as well get in on the madness that is crypto at the moment. Shit goes up 1000% in a week. Just got to find the right shitcoin to get that sort of action. The one I've picked is actually an outstanding idea (and performer) - it's a decentralised exchange. It should do really well in the next year or two... until governments smash it with regulation. Hopefully I'll be 50 G up by that time....
