It was no big deal as I had to learn the languages of the countries I was living in at the time. I'm more proud (lol still learning) of getting a biology degree in English though I still want to dig up the bones of everyone who decided to make the word 'set' mean anything and everything, just to jump up and down on them.

English has lots of annoying multiple use words. A person had me translate a paragraph to Finnish with "facility" in it. I told him there is no equivalent. He had to pick from hangar, shed, workshop or warehouse. In his intended use.

"Facility" is not so much a multiple use word, but a generalised label for a number of different things, which potentially might be useful in certain contexts.

I was a lefty myself and I still have no problem with the left that deals with class issues and the poor and I'm supporter of the welfare state to a certain degree. I still watch football and go to the pub with the local branch member of the Socialist Worker's Party (him and his wife are sound people) who goes on sponsored bike rides for the upkeep of the 'Morning Star' newspaper. Though when the left starts judging you on characteristics you were born with rather than the constants of your character then I'm out. Anyone promoting identity politics, feminism, social justice warriorism and intersectionality can do one as far as I'm concerned. I didn't leave the left as the left, left me or to put a fine point on it. They dressed up as clowns and jumped into a clown car and drove right off a cliff.
