Weren't there some very respectable critics that influenced the decision to get rid of the unseemly forum and unsightly mob? I seem to recall a few links to blogs...
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

It's set up for cross site monetisation by sharing user data with fb, twitter and google etc. This makes sense financially, but its a patten which is increasingly blandifying the internet and turns users into economic units for trade and sale.

In the ever-prophetic words of Ilovelucy - as he said way back in 2010:
I doubt I'll be taking part no matter how cool the website may turn out to be. It'll still be a castle built in the sand if it's built by a bunch of lying, incompetent opportunists around the solipsistic fog of a brilliant but aloof man. No cause, whatever cause this is, will do well when it relies so heavily on such people.

It looks awful. :hehe:
It's all your fault, LP. You kept on insisting that they actually do something when they say they're going to do it, and now they have. :hehe:
Fuck it. Fuck it all. I hope they all get hit by a church van tonight and die... instantly! :hehe:

It says on their website that they've brought together a 'superlative' team...

Yeah - I can think of some appropriate superlatives that spring to mind... :tea:

It's more like slowly cooling and dying embers these days, that would love to be fanned, but just keep getting stifled - rather like his charitable foundation.

As it happens - incidentally - I'm in the process of pulling together a case to demonstrate that the Executive Director of RDFRS - Robin Elisabeth Cornwell - is a willful and pathological liar. I have filtered through lots of archived material in the past few days to bolster this case - covering all bases. The evidence is there - it's just a case of finishing indexing it, and writing it all up nicely. I feel a strange mixture of calm and urgency as I contemplate finally putting it out there. :eddy:

Are you getting someone to give it a one-over before you go public with it?
