These policies are written purposefully vague and expansive, because the idea now is that if a person in a "marginalized" category complains about something, then it will be acted upon because their feelings are determinative. The policies are not considered to be oppressive or silly, because they're only really used by the oppressed persons themselves. The oppressor could claim that someone violated this same policy against him, but nobody would take that seriously because he's at the top of the progressive stack.
