I do dislike some of the snark - but unfortunately I can't be my brother's keeper.

And I for sorrow sung,

And go the fools among.

Yes, but you just have to work through it Bella. There is no other option.
Nobody has apologized or me, nor will they. (Just making that clear in case anybody missed it.)

Back to the OP, I'd bet my last dollar that rape jokes would do the trick. They'd be swarming over here like rapists in a rectory.
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

No bites yet
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

True. Besides, Myers had the option of dealing with the matter here - he could have confronted Pappa directly in the thread or via PM or PM'd any member of the staff about it. I would have had no problem with him taking it his blog if trying to address the situation here at the forum had failed, but that's not what he did. The thread may not have been the best idea in the history of Ratz, but Myers was the one who decided to bypass locally handling the issue and turned it into Internet drama.

I can remember when he didn't indulge in stunts. I miss that PZ. I don't know if he created the Squid Squad or they created him.

My bold - of course not, those ideas belong to cowiz, or whatever the fuck he calls *himself these days.

*possibly "itself", no one knows for sure

By the same token, Pappa could have gone to the Skepchick site and told them how annoying he thought they were. We (mods) could have pulled that thread into a private area before all the drama happened. We left it there for the entire world to see and some of them did.

What horrible consequences have there been for us? Some people on the net said some nasty things. That's about it really.

Oh, and from now on if i say I'm from Rationalia then I'm going to risk hearing "Oh, that website...".
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

There's zero upside to any Skepchicks joining this forum. Sure the snark here would stop, but it's kinda too late to undo the damage. And if they joined they wouldn't be able to open a conversation about what happened, because any honest dialogue would be declared an attack and they would be banned. If any Skepchicks joined it would *prevent* any amelioration, because you wouldn't be able to talk about it.

And that assumes that the majority here are interested in moving on.

And before you 86 me for saying this, let me say that I've been thrown out of worse places. :-P
