It's not an impossible goal: just work your way up through the ranks of the editors behind a major English dictionary, then redefine the meaning of 'contrarian'.

Otherwise I don't think I'd describe myself by a term that clearly doesn't apply.
well of course, if you ever were to agree, you would cease to be a contrarian.
I have to disagree... :prof:

That doesn't follow at all. Someone can never agree and still not be a contrarian. A contrarian is someone who takes up the contrary position for the sake of being contrary.

If everyone else is wrong and I disagree then I'm not a contrarian. In your definition it seems that if a creationist said that evolution was false, then a biologist would be a 'contrarian' for saying evolution is true!

It's okay, it's been clear for a while that you didn't know what the word meant and that's why you were incorrectly applying it to me.

Since you always disagree, but you are not always right, you qualify as a contrarian. Either that or you can't take a joke.

But being right isn't part of the definition...

Aren't jokes supposed to be funny? Or is this another change in definitions?

To prove I'm not a contrarian, I have to accept that the definition of 'joke' is something that's not funny and I have to accept that the definition of contrarian is just anybody who has ever disagreed with a claim regardless of the truth of the claim?

I feel like this game is rigged.

Now you're getting it, that's why it's funny.

That's what I've been telling everybody for decades now...I'm not a contrarian, they're just always wrong.

It seems strange to think that anyone would call you a contrarian. There are many names that people could call you that might apply but surely everyone sees that you believe what you say.

I do love the idea that you argue against liberals simply for the sake of being contrary though.
