on the other hand, would you guys consider thinking about sticking together options?

I was there when IIDB broke down in similar manner and that led to a great community splitting over 4 or 5 different forums, all of which are good atheist places, but the communities are different.

How about trying to do something that will keep this community together?

It seems like Rational Skepticism was set up with the explicit purpose of taking on RD.net refugees, so I think that is our best bet.

Have you seen who's recommending it here, ad nauseam? :ddpan:

That's what TAF was for us originally. Didn't work out as planned. Split-offs are bound to happen. Just as long as everyone finds a forum to call home!
And, everyone that wants to is more than welcome to stay. Things are changing around here with our member list doubling, but change can be a good thing.
We danced.

Most of us are planning to us both (perhaps they all say that I don't know) but I know many people are active members of a couple of forums.

You guys here have been so great that it will not be forgotten, no better place than to come for some shitzengigles!

I for one am turning Bi!

Thanks for this thread Gawdzilla. :td:
Maybe the downing of RDF is actually a good thing: Judging by the enormous anguish felt by many quantum state members (we are neither there or anywhere, really! :hehe: ), the wretched man had become a 'golden calf' that we Israelites were cavorting around. Now, horror of horrors, the emperor has been glimpsed butt naked (by his own hand, no less!), with the same frailties as anyone else. He was either complicit or incompetent in the disgraceful machinations of these past few days.
With RDF gone, or almost so, all these other super sites, including Rationalia, can have a fairer slice of the action! And they are great sites, let there be NO doubt about that.
At present I'm happy enough here, but may have a look at the others you mentioned as they all become more active.
One things for sure; I'm not grovelling to the proposed future RDF for permission to post new threads. WTF do they think they are? These are FORUMS, not quarterly science journals. I must say, I was disappointed at PZ Myers Blog. He's obviously out of touch, as Dawkins is. Evidently, celebrity also corrupts... :levi:

Different missions than we have, I think. Badly handled because they're not part of the community, but there it is.

I've been a little. :? ... but I was just passing it on after I read others saying that this is where most people are coming.

I kind of like it here, and it seems that many others do too. I will try to spread out a little, though (I know that we're a pain in the ass for the tech people...). I like the off-topic stuff here, but I'll probably go to JREF and the rationalscepticism site for the more serious stuff... but everyone knows that the OT stuff is my forte', so I'll probably spend most of my time here... unless I'm shoed off, that is.
