Also, there has to be more to them than just their stance on feminism. For me, this site is actually more of a fun community than a serious debate place. There is the occasional drama and very occasional gross stupidity, but overall we are a very accepting and welcoming bunch.
Just invite them to read this thread. Yeah, sure, you're a "welcoming" bunch. After the OP, it's just more sneering.

Or you could try a provocative and inviting question, like "Would it be immoral to rape you?"
Is that not a fair question?

What is morality? Is rape always immoral?

Has this discussion never entered a philosophy class at a university, or a discussion board?

If the question is interposed as a joke, then it's a joke. But, it certainly can be posed as a serious discussion of the nature of morality, evolutionary psychology, whether there is objective right and wrong, and whether something so damaging and injurious as rape could ever be the moral thing to do.

Would it be moral to commit rape, if say, it was necessary to save the species?

God no - if it had come to that, let the species just die out.

My own opinion is enough for me. And, I claim the right to defend it against any majority, anywhere, anytime. And, anyone who doesn't like it can pick a number, get in line, and kiss my ass.

Christopher Hitchens.

And, that includes Myers/Skepchick devotees.

The Skepchicks are fond of saying over on their blog that their site is their site, they make the rules, and if you don't like it, don't go there. Well, that's another instance where they don't particularly grant a similar right to others. This is Rationalia. We are far freer here, and far more liberal in our mindset, we don't fear words, and we don't get all upset when people say nasty stuff. In a way, it's not only liberal here, but with a splash of libertine.

If you don't like it, Skepchicks/Myers, then stick to your own sites, where your protected in a cocoon of bannings and trigger warnings. If that's what you like, good. As Myers says, "move on without" us troglodytes.

Well, actually, "we" did get a little irked at having some prominent blogger claim we all think a particular way.

Being welcoming and civil only goes one way with Myers and Skepchickish folks.

What is all this childishness? Any comment, Pee Zed?

Blogger Jason Thibeault a.k.a. 'Lousy Canuck' -- along with blogger Stephanie Zvan of 'Almost Diamonds' -- has called me a "vacuous shitbag troll" and a "tone troll" following my call for civility in response to 'Lousy Canuck' calling the president of the James Randi Educational Foundation a "douchebag."

Blogger Ophelia Benson of 'Butterflies and Wheels' has called me an "asshole" and accused me of "telling lies" about her in a podcast following her using the terms/phrases "disgraceful," "very dishonest," "unethical," not too careful with the truth," "hack pursuing a vendetta," and "dishonest hack" to describe me (and Karla Porter).

All of this poor treatment, though, was quite underwhelming compared to the treatment I received hours ago by frequent Skepchick and Freethought Blogs commenter 'Official SpokesGay' (hereafter referred to as 'Spokesgay') whom 'Lousy Canuck' happens to apparently endorse.

That kind of thing is very common on Skepchick's blog, I assure you. That's the kind of "welcoming" environment they provide to dissenters. They love to say they are only against trolls, but they label almost any dissent as trolling.

Some of us did, yes. But, that irking did not lead to any posts being removed, or people being banned.

The issue was faced head on.

One of my pet peeves are toolbags who give no quarter, but then whine for it for themselves.

I say, if you want to pursue an aggressive, scorched Earth, "fuck you" style of activism, you'd best be ready to withstand some of the same fired in return. Seems unreasonable to expect one's adversary to voluntarily fight with one hand tied behind his or her back.

You and a Skepchick are the last two people alive on the earth. Even smiling at her sends her off into a fit of neofeminist rage. She calls you a rapist, a misogynist, and writes about you on her blog (scratching into the sand on the beach). The only chance for the human race to survive is to have sex with her, though you puke a little in your mouth at the thought. What do you do?

A) Construct a primitive elevator and follow her in?
B) Carve a 'swingers' card out of a squarish flat stone and pass it to her?
C) Wear a T-shirt?

We need to bloody well stop harassing people, us son-of-a-bitch, douchebag motherfuckers - and fuck of and die, for good measure - I take it?

Or do we just need to stop harassing the women (correction: feminists, Skepchicks and women who may sympathise with them*) - which includes such offenses as calling them crass terms like 'female', and wearing scarcely offensive t-shirts in their presence? :coffee:

Not a problem. My massively potent male pheromones, now even more irresistible due to lack of bathing facilities, would overcome her silly feminism in mere minutes. She'd be on all fours with her ass in the air, calling me Daddy and begging for a spanking.

Fact.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
