I demand someone add another option: Shakepeare. The reason for this - and everyone who has watched Tom Stoppard's documentary would already know - is that The Bard himslelf created and encouraged the lie that Marlowe is the author of his own works. The underhanded strategy served two purposes. Chiefly, it threw Lord Wessex of the scent when he demanded the name of the pwerson who was fucking his wife, Viola de Lesseps. The side benefit was that thereby Bill engineered a situation in which his senior bardly rival stood a real chance of being done in by a jealous husband. I'm surprised Shakespeare never used that real life scenario in any of his plays. Oh, wait...
