The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

We were at Solider Field yesterday. (Purely by mistake, of course. (Ashton's fault.))

I thought I posted here
If the post was considered a derail, maybe a new thread could be created? :( Like "On the Nature of Sports" or something :dono:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Huh. Weird. Thanks, Gawd. Dunno what happened. Maybe I'll try to compose it again later

Anybody care to rant about Notre Dame? Well, I will.

As much as I enjoy Fighting Irish tradition, I've become a devout detractor of Notre Dame football in recent years. It's time for them to enter the 21st Century and join the Big Ten.

Twenty-five years ago, there were lots of independent teams. These included Florida State, Penn State, etc. Today, there's Army, Navy and Notre Dame. What's wrong with this picture?

What other college football team has an NBC-contract? That may not mean much lately since the Irish have been sucking eggs for a few years, but NBC doesn't show any other teams on a regular basis. Notre Dame, even when they get routinely beat like a red-headed stepchild, is apparently special.

They also get special treatment for BCS bowl bids. Almost every year they get nominated to some big bowl in place of some other deserving team in a conference, and then they get pounded. I know, my Buckeyes (and some other teams like Oklahoma) have had a few championship-game losses, but those teams were nevertheless BCS-caliber squads that would've played in a Rose/Fiesta/other big bowl, regardless. Every time the Irish have a mediocre year and then -surprise surprise- lose after taking someone's spot in a big January game, there's a lot of grumbling from the rest of college footballdom.

I suppose I could gripe about "Touchdown Jesus", but even an atheist like me can write it off as good clean fun.

FIRE UP CHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUCK IT MSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life
