The baseball thread
Shouldn't all baseball teams have cheerleaders? The Koreans have it right on that point...
Also - what about a true "World Series?"
Wouldn't it be cool to have the American World Series champions enter a playoff against Japan's champion team, maybe South Korea's champs, and maybe like the Dominican Republic and a couple other countries that have decent baseball teams?
That would be cool.

Baseball. Possibly the second most boring sport to watch after golf.
Korean women's baseball seems much more interesting. At least what I gather from FBMs avatars.
ETA: Also that robofrog on the roof looks about ready to attack.

We call that "sport" rounders in the UK played by little girls.

Yes.. cricket where you want to score a wicket with a bowler hurling.. or some such thing. That's an odd sport.

No thread about baseball is complete without this canard.Pensioner wrote:We call that "sport" rounders in the UK played by little girls.
I've already demonstrated that you Brit fags play rounders, and not just girls - boys play it too.
Maybe your girls have dicks over there in Brit-land.
Moreover, look at the fucking bat. That's not baseball. Nobody swings like that - and nobody uses a bat like that -
There aren't the same number of bases, and in rounders you carry the bat around with you and have to touch the "bases" with the bat itself. The bat is swung with one hand and it is a tiny little bat, made for tiny little Brit arms and tiny little Brit hands... there is no pitcher - it's a bowler - who throws the ball underarm, like in softball.
And, a country that loves "cricket" ought not to mock "baseball."
Here we see British cricket players celebrating a victory by smacking each other in the dicks....

The play-offs are on. Tied 2-2 in St. Louis. Only reason I know is because something elsewhere thought I'd be interested.

Well, I'm glad we've found a U.K.-er who can talk baseball without trying to belittle it! Nice!Elessarina wrote:I like baseball I love cricket. I only "like" the former because I haven't seen a lot of it..

How did you settle on the White Sox as your team?
Re: The baseball thread
I've never been able to follow cricket or baseball. They both go way past the 90 or so minutes my attention span allows and I never seem to know exactly what's happening. One is just an excuse for British toffs to socialise and have picnics and the other for American yobs to get drunk and rile each other up (I'm not sure what American toffs do ).

That's as good a reason as any - most of us latch on to a team through indoctrination as young children, or because they were the first team our dad or uncle took us too, and what have you.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:She and Ashton went to a game one weekend, IIRC.Coito ergo sum wrote:How did you settle on the White Sox as your team?

I went to see them! They played the Red Sox which is also a favourite as I love Boston as well as Chicago. I would definitely like to go to another game sometime.

Re: The baseball thread
Ani.. toffs don't attend cricket matches really. Like any sport you get the corporate element but a cricket crowd is like a football crowd only with brains: no fighting, opposing fans can sit with each other, they're allowed to drink (ALL DAY) and the rivalry tends to consist of quite a lot of hilarious banter and witty comebacks
