Of course, I'm a Colts fan. :toot:
So a game that is played in one country, and hardly ever involves feet, should be called 'football', while the game that is played throughout the world has to rename itself to suit the wishes of the minority?

Lots of games are called football. Soccer, American football, Aussie Football, Canadian rules football....back in the old days, rugby was called rugby football, or rugger football, whereas soccer was called Association football, wherein soccer was derived from the soc in association.

The name soccer, incidentally, was coined in English universities in the late 1800's. It's a British English word, and was not invented in the US.

Watching a college game. The coach got a penalty for his team, yelling repeatedly at a referee.

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

Guess not. ;)

I just thought I'd resurect this thread. There is, after all, one little game left to play, ten days from now.

I'm rooting for Green Bay to beat Pittsburg. My reasoning is a little atypical: in the NFL I like the Patriots and Giants and I despise the Cowboys, and my support for other teams is based on how many of their standout players are former Ohio State Buckeyes. But Pittsburg has Santonio Holmes as a great wide receiver, and Green Bay has A.J. Hawk as their starting middle linebacker. So they cancel each other out, and I have to come up other factors. Green Bay hasn't been to the big game in a while, and Pittsburg's QB got into a pack of trouble for (allegedly) sexually assaulting a drunken college girl in a bar restroom during the offseason. So screw his team, I'm gonna cheer for Green Bay. 8-)

I wonder why we don't hear more complaints about this Lingerie Bowl. I mean - it is about as sexist as can be. It's got all the buzzers ringing -- skinny models who are portraying an unattainable standard of beauty - catering to male fantasies - scantily clad and engaged in a mock sporting event solely for the prurient sexual interest of men.

Seems like there'd be more groups out there complaining about this....

Maybe those kinds of feminists have gotten sick of being called wet blankets. I don't see them protesting outside my local Hooters either.

I remember the Hooters protests. In a town I once lived in they wanted to move a Hooters from an already established location to a new, busier, location. The uptight folks in the town protested and tried to stop it from getting a permit because they "didn't want their chil'run to be exposed to the Hooters restaurant..." Meanwhile, about three restaurants within a mile dressed their waitresses in even skimpier outfits, but since they did not have a double entendre for a name they were left to their own devices.

And, that reminds me of one time when I was at Hooters with some friends and a mother and father came in with their two kids, one of which was an approximately 12 year old boy. The mother actually started getting upset with the kid because the kid couldn't stop ogling the waitress, who was quite hot (although just wearing the usual full t-shirt and shorts with tan leggings). I couldn't help but crack up - bringing a 12 year old boy to a Hooters and telling him he can't look at the women.... I mean...come on....

Some people don't realize that they're living in Crazy Town.
I've seen families at Hooters before. No big deal. My wife's gone with me and helped me power through a plate of hot wings.

Other than the name, Hooters is actually not the restaurant one would normally go to for good eye candy these days. Plenty of other restaurants offer more cleavage and short micro-mini skirts.....

I have been informed by a friend of mine I will be hosting a super bowl party on the 6th. Yippee?
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Generally speaking, their hits are 1/2 as hard, though.

Flawed logic. The body armour allows players to charge headlong into each other, at full pelt, and significantly reduces the risk of serious injuries. Without armour, each tackle comes down to the skill and daring of the players - they could hit as hard, but it's a big risk if they do. Saying American footballers hit harder is like saying a ram can headbutt harder than a lion; technically true but rather irrelevant.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Flawed logic on your part. Football players hit harder than rugby players... because football players are bigger and stronger than rugby players. Hence the development of padding. The game was born before the accessories, not vice versa.
Nobody gets to talk shit about football in my thread and get away with it.

"unattainable standard of beauty" which they have clearly obtained.
