Earth's Oceans Are More Interesting Than Space
Yes they are (?) But progress to make exploration available to everyone seems slow...
I wonder if there has been much transfer between the two fields? Have the oceans become more accessible as a result of NASA, or any space agencies work?

A lot of valuable data on oceans comes from modern satellite surveillance.

-indeed, it's incredible what you can discover with sea maps today. I used some data recently to plan a fishing trip with my son.

We planned on going to Destin till Barry showed up. Instead we ended up fishing Bolivar Peninsula, Galveston, and for trout which has been good recently. Naturally we caught several shark and other fish instead, and crab, the blue crabs are everywhere, and of course the one that got away because dad made you tighten your drag to stay out of the rocks...

I haven't been fishing for yonks. It was a big part of my life when I was a young'un, whether by rod or speargun...

Fishing can be rewarding. I enjoy the research, planning, and setup. It's fun to learn about the ecosystem and the species you might target.
More on topic I was imagining a more accessible ocean. Where's the technology filling the gap between scuba and couch potato?
Maybe submersibles can take off like the drone craze, just make sure everyone is sharing geo tagged images, or whatever they're collecting.

I believe that fish and human kind can live together in peace.

I want one of these:Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 7:36 amMore on topic I was imagining a more accessible ocean. Where's the technology filling the gap between scuba and couch potato?

Hookah system with floating compressor, you can also get one where the compressor stays on the boat. More limited than scuba, but doesn't require certification and gives you unlimited time underwater at shallow depths. Bit pricey, though, cheapest I've seen is around $1200.

There are some interesting underwater drones available now.

Hell yeah! That's the kind of technology I'm talking about. Getting around in the oceans needs to become absurdly easy. We should be disgusted by how easy the youngsters have it who want to explore the water.laklak wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 2:09 pmI want one of these:Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 7:36 amMore on topic I was imagining a more accessible ocean.
