Should corporations be considered people?
Courts have given corporations some, but not all rights as people under the laws. Under what authority do they grant or not grant certain rights and privalages under laws meant for (wo)men?
Corporations aren't granted voting rights, but they claim protection from unreasonable search and seizure, as well as free speech. Corporations are susceptible to civil and criminal monetary fines, but a multi owned corporation is rarely hit with jail time except in a few egregious situations, and then only a few key individuals. And most often no person pays an individual penalty. It seems a pick and choose of laws intended for people are applied.
Freedom of speech or the press is given to corporations, but even that has some limitations. I could personal recommend 5 yr olds drink whisky, but no whisky manufacturer could.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Corporations should not have the right to vote, nor to lobby for policy
their officers, employees and other members should be fully liable, botch civilly and criminally, for any malfeasance on the behalf of the group, which in tunrn should be subject to dissolution.

Should corporations have freedom of press or speech?

Clearly they aren't people, but they are entities run by people and those people should be responsible - personally in most cases for any harm they do.

An SF story I read involved advanced AI's who ran companies; they were allowed to own shares, and some achieved full ownership of their corporation...

If so then can I go all stand my ground on their assed?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: Should corporations be considered people?
