Christ on a crutch, tell me this is fake news.

http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/12/technol ... index.html
Europe is thinking about giving advanced robots rights and responsibilities. Many experts say that's a terrible idea.
The European Parliament passed a resolution last year that envisions a special legal status of "electronic persons" for the most sophisticated autonomous robots.

The proposal is being considered by the European Commission, Europe's top regulator.
More than 150 experts in robotics, artificial intelligence, law, medical science and ethics weighed into the debate on Thursday, with a clear warning against such a move.
What next? Maternity leave for my fucking blender? Paid vacation for the espresso machine? What if the oven decides to go on strike?

We live in an absurd world.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

that's from the Onion, it can't be true... already, making corporations virtual persons was a terrible idea, but making bots 'electronic persons'... that's beyond DJ Frump stupid.

It will eventually be an issue, when AI is truly self-aware. Blade Runner, here we come.

AI is NOT self aware, and the issue of liability is with the makers/owners of AIs and bots, not in giving the machines anything like a legal personhood.

When does bribery stop and lobbying begin?

Robots will then go and vote. As soon as their robotic finger touches the voting screen, it will calculate the 10 previous votes from that voting booth as being robot or human. Then it changes all the human votes to go for the robot candidate.

On the plus side, the robot candidate will not be gtabbing humans by the pussy. He will just extract the credit card.

Yeah, except for the studies that have shown even those with the worst allergies have at most, minor reactions when coming into skin contact. I'm curious where the idea comes from what you stated above...is this a fear or grounded in evidence? Also, don't get me wrong, I understand people can die from peanut allergies and it's very serious, but it is from ingestion and not from general contact from what I can see.

That's not what I've heard, but what i've heard might just be urban myth. Schools certainly take it very seriously here. Perhaps it's just not worth the chance that some kid does go into anaphylactic shock due to someone else breathing their peanuts on them.
