Women at Atheist/Skeptic Events: Hooking Up?

I am not famous nor do I have a blog nor do I videoblog (whatever) but I do have opinions.

And here is one inspired by the latest controversy--you know, what women really think and really feel about atheist/skeptics (I'll keep it at that) events and do they want men talking to them and asking them to do stuff while they are there?

The idea has already been presented that women don't attend because they are in the minority; and the consequences of being a minority has been already touched on--that they don't like being hit on, that kind of thing. I have a different take and wonder if this might not be as true as the already presented "theory".

How about this?
First:

• Some women do attend because they like being the minority and want to take advantage of the better odds for hooking up that affords.

Second:

• That there exists an equivalent number of the female attendee minority that do like that and do want to hook up as there are women who don't attend at all because they fear or dislike being hit on at these events.

Please only answer in the manner in which I expect answers to be submitted and adhere to my unstated standards of what I consider quality.

I hooked up at a convention a few years ago. Things went so well that we did it again the next year.

I did not go looking to hook up or find a boyfriend. I went hoping to make friends and be in the midst of a group of people who were also atheists. Actually, I was more comfortable there than I had ever been at a religious convention.

I think that women enjoy being hit on by a charming, handsome, respectful suitor. I have had the pleasure of being in those shoes.

Further, I think that if said suitor is boorish, homely and crass, those same women would be appalled at the nerve someone had to approach her that way. I have had the pleasure of being in those shoes.

Few know how to say 'no' firmly and politely. Few men, too. Maybe THIS is the root of the problem. If women were instructed in a friendly, cheerful way to say 'no', maybe they wouldn't feel so awkward when someone like my boorish self asks to put something in their minge...

My first suggestion - show them your cunt, slip in a finger, raise it to test the wind, and say 'thanks but no'.
