Minorities see more variety. Majorities see less. Therefore, minorities are more likely to understand difference. That's the reasoning.

What do you attribute the difference between black and white kids to be?

Self segregation in housing, black / white / muslim / Asian neighborhoods is still very common, especially in cities.

And the difference between white and black kids is of course genetic.
