How often does the paper reproduce discussions/parts of discussions for their readers? The paper may not even consider the discussion worth reproducing in any form; your own intense involvement in the debate may not seem as engaging to the newspaper's producers as it is to yourself and the morons others involved. This not to say that your contribution hasn't been worthwhile, only that your perception of its importance may not be shared by the producers of the newspaper.

I wonder if it's necessary to take a defensive/threatening stance in your initial contact with the paper? I have no idea what the ethos and demographic of the paper is, but might it be possible to couch your letter to them in a more helpful way? Suggest to them that if they're planning to use it, you'd like to see the facebook discussion presented in a way that generates further discussion and consciousness raising, with a view to reducing ignorance and vengeful mob mentality.

Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa <------ sardonic laughter ............ Who am I kidding ....? If it's a sensationalist, tabloid newspaper (is it?), of course, it's the ignorance and vengeful mob mentality that they'll be wanting to exploit and further entrench, not reduce. They only want to ensure they continue to make money from the ignorant masses, after all, not inform and enlighten.

Whatever happens, Lozzer, you are demonstrating a great deal of courage and rationality in the face of ignorance and prejudice, and your example to others, in itself, makes your challenge worthwhile, in my view. Any consciousness raising is a bonus.
