Indeed.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

I'm not underestimating voters at all. I see idiots in this country flipping between the same two parties every election, never learning, and we don't even have a two-party system, but I still don't think they'd vote someone as bad as Trump. We've avoided Geary Adams for years after all.

The thing is -- he is tearing it up in places like New Jersey and Massachusetts -- places with a lot of blue collar folks who love politically incorrect foul-mouths. Those are typically blue states. And, he's not only winning with some blues, but he is beating guys like Cruz among evangelicals. The religious in red states will vote for him DESPITE his foul mouth and support for Planned Parenthood and opposition to W. Bush. The blue collar folks in blue states will vote for him BECAUSE of his foul mouth, support for Planned Parenthood and opposition to W. Bush.
Is he really tearing it up? I mean who really shows up this early for these things other than the loudest, most vocal, and passionate? I think Trump will fail where it matters, when the silent majority vote against him on election day.

He'll fail where it matters and that's a certitude... problem is that he tickles the stupid in all the right places and might be installed 1600 Penn avenue before his failures come to daylight.

I live in a country where people like segolene royal, nicolas sarkozy and francois hollande can stand for election and even be elected, I can vouch that it's no joke.

The Republican Primaries in the first four states have set four records for GOP voter turnout, and it's not because of Cruz and Rubio.

We're still only talking about a sub-set of rednecks vs everyone else. The Republicans not supporting Trump will be turning their back on him. As will most of the party. It's hard to know what Trump can even do as President. I can't see anything other than mass resignation and non-cooperation.

Again, don't be so sure. I saw a stat on MSNBC last night - Rachel Maddow - wherein they polled Rubio voters and where they would go if Rubio dropped out -- 22% would go to Cruz, but 11% would go to Trump. All else being equal, that doesn't get Cruz anywhere close to victory.

That being said, one of them needs to drop out to have anychance of stopping Trump. I suggest Cruz drop out, and Rubio promise him the SCOTUS nomination. Cruz's support should probably go more to Rubio than Trump.

I'll say definitely not the people via elections... remains either a council of judges or political authorities... and leaving the right to decide excellence in the profession to the professional themselves leaves nomination open to even more politicking than letting politicos name judges who'll be independent thereafter.
I certainly agree about not popular elections. There are difficulties in getting good people via decisions of their peers, but you can improve that by appointing a panel which contains not only legal experts and past judges, but people who have been successful managers or public servants, and who are serious about choosing quality candidates.
Sure, but the reality is that the people chosen to be on the panel have to be chosen by people who have a vested interested in furthering a political agenda.

If politicians can't fairly pick competent judges without regard for their political agendas, what makes you think they will choose members of a panel without regard for that same agenda?
Silly Forty Two! The panel is appointed by another panel, which in turn...
