Trump has more votes at this stage in the primaries than Romney had in 2012 and McCain had in 2008 -- http://www.weeklystandard.com/trump-has ... le/2001230

If Trump wins big on Super Tuesday and takes Florida, he's got it. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/02/n ... 016-219685 and http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/rep ... ald-trump/

I don't have any such thing, but nobody I know believes the trumpster to be a good thing for the US... OTOH, we're used to GOP becoming ever crazier since reagan and the shrubs and the tea party

"I never thought to stay here without papers. I had a visa, I traveled every few months back to the country to Slovenia to stamp the visa. I came back, I applied for the green card, I applied for the citizenship later on after many years of green card. So I went by system, I went by the law. And you should do that, you should not just say let me stay here and whatever happens, happens.”

Thankfully, as I've said before, he's not getting near the Whitehouse. So most of us aren't even worried.

I thought the same thing, but it's now looking as if he may well get fairly near. he is blowing the doors off the GOP field. He didn't just "win" in Nevada, he beat both Cruz and Rubio COMBINED. I.e. if all of Rubio's votes went to Cruz, Trump still won. And, that is in a state where Rubio had many real advantages, with the entire GOP establishment against Trump, the media against Trump, etc.Animavore wrote:We don't need headlines. The next step is Super Tuesday. Trump could pretty much seal the nomination with big wins there. He may not, but the fact that he is even in a position where he may well sew it up is rather amazing.

Yes he might win the GOP, but if he does it's Game Over for them. The ones who don't support him will either vote independent or vote Democrat out of spite.Forty Two wrote:I thought the same thing, but it's now looking as if he may well get fairly near. he is blowing the doors off the GOP field. Unlike some Europeans I don't think Americans are crazy or stupid based on a sub-set. I think the majority will turn on Trump.

Don't be so sure. People hate Hillary. She's the establishment -- she's Goldman Sachs. Bernie is old, and a socialist. The media is doing its best to present Bernie as some leader of some sort of revolution or anti-establishment -- but, the voter turnout among Democrats is way, way down. Way less than 2008, and even much less than 2012.
From what I've seen of the latest polls relative to a Trump v Clinton election, all polls are within the margin of error, with Clinton currently having the edge, but barely.

One can hope hilly can beat the trumpster, but that's one battle I don't want to see, better see Rubio beat the sanders flat like a crepe.

I am sure. Trump will mobilise people who don't usually vote to get to the polls at a rate equivalent to the Irish Same Sex Marriage Referendum. He won't win. He can't win.

The thing is, as bad as Trump is, I would much rather have him as President than Rubio. And, Hillary is basically a Republican.Svartalf wrote:One can hope hilly can beat the trumpster, but that's one battle I don't want to see, better see Rubio beat the sanders flat like a crepe.

The thing is -- he is tearing it up in places like New Jersey and Massachusetts -- places with a lot of blue collar folks who love politically incorrect foul-mouths. Those are typically blue states. And, he's not only winning with some blues, but he is beating guys like Cruz among evangelicals. The religious in red states will vote for him DESPITE his foul mouth and support for Planned Parenthood and opposition to W. Bush. The blue collar folks in blue states will vote for him BECAUSE of his foul mouth, support for Planned Parenthood and opposition to W. Bush.Animavore wrote:I am sure.
