I am not sure. I don't think there is a prediction yet because we don't know who the candidates are yet.

The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

I hope Trump gets the nomination. Not because I agree with him on anything - about the only thing we have in common is that we both want to bone his daughter - but because it will annoy all the right people.

Actually me too. Because I would love to see him to actually materialize his promises. Promises many people seem to believe in. Promises he can break without any responsibility.

He's really just a right-wing populist, and populists need to be put into positions of power, so the populace can see what utter failures they are when they get there.

We have populists of right (UKIP) and left (Corbyn) here, unfortunately neither of them is likely to be in a position where their politics are discredited for eternity.

Trump isn't getting close to the White House. Please let's stop pretending.

A few weeks ago, I would have said the same...

Now, a few doubts are creeping in. Maybe Americans are that stupid...

Stupid, well, the system they live in - and I would argue are responsible for - does not require anything else.

The USA is the so-called super-power. The USA landed on Moon. The USA <insert superlative>. Reagan? What was wrong with him? He and Gorby ended the Cold War. Economy is, to large extent, probably unaffected by this. It runs its course of ups and downs, the invisible hand of the markets *coughs*, the rich getting richer and that is what they like most. What do the US Americans care about? Economy and security. What do they need to care about? Nothing else. Armed conflict? That is problem. Seems the US Americans, I dunno, are confident when it comes to their capabilities and do not care too much giving one person exceptional powers, among them, to start a war. If shit hits the fan .. nada, lets carry on. We will shoot migrants trying to swim across and it is our God given right. its not like we have to take care of them.

What can he do wrong? Seriously. Conduct reality show every X years, call it democratic election, vote or dont and forget about it for next X years. Does it work? Of course, the evidence is the USA being <insert superlative>. They can elect me and still will be super-power. How fucked up is that eh? But its works for them, it seems. Or?

Unknown number of US Americans are allegedly stupid, lacking intelligence and common sense, for even considering someone like Mr Trump. Why is that? Because his promises, his issues, are lacking intelligence and/or common sense. Now look at this thread. 11 pages and its lacking intelligence and common sense. None of the issues, that is the point of democracy to settle issues, are debated. None. If something is even mentioned, lacking depth is euphemism. Now I will be told .. jokes, predictions, jabbing. And I am telling you, that is all there is needed. Jabbing which has no fucking influence over anything. This thread, the reality show called presidential elections, the state of the USA in global context is evidence.

Bernie will floor Trump with his famous left jab!

Unless Trump gets in with a right hook first, of course...

:whisper: I think Tuco hasn't quite got the hang of this forum yet.

The fact is, weird as it might seem, on occasion our threads can be somewhat less than serious...
