A rather naive generalisation...MrJonno wrote:Difference between the liberal and conservative mind, the liberal seeks out constant new experiences from a different meal at new restaurants to foreign travel while the conservative values 'security'Blind groper wrote:That is well put, Mr. Jonno. Re: Possessions
Yes its a generalisation but so is all politics, you don't win elections by appealing to complex human beings you win them by getting a coalition of different groups over the 51% barrier. People earning X amount of dollars/pounds are more likely to vote for a particular policy. People who like to travel on the whole will vote in a certain wayJimC wrote:A rather naive generalisation...MrJonno wrote:Difference between the liberal and conservative mind, the liberal seeks out constant new experiences from a different meal at new restaurants to foreign travel while the conservative values 'security'Blind groper wrote:That is well put, Mr. Jonno. Re: Possessions
On a philosophical level, the only thing I need is my mind.
There was a time, and could be another time still, when I had very little of anything - including the essentials. I have consequently learnt that I don't 'need' a great deal to get by. I like my 'things'; the xbox, the playstation, the music, and I think I have a couple of kids kicking about that I should mention, otherwise the local Presbyterians think bad of me lol.
Those things make my life what it is...perversely bearable. But they are not the be-all-and-end-all of what defines me.
I'm stoned and talking bollocks LMAO
Ya cannae tek awey my frrreedom!

Several guns of varying caliber and design and a shitload of ammunition.
With that everything else I really need is available.

Money will buy happiness, to a point. That point appears to be about $60k in after tax income per person in the U.S.
