Ah, but the most interesting ones are in the other 15% of the world.
:fix:
well of course identified, otherwise how could they be labeled serial killers?

OR are you saying there's soo many that are NOT identified???? :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:
Well, yeah, unless you're claiming that Americans are predisposed to be serial killers.

It's like underreporting of other crimes. Some countries denied that serial killers even existed in their countries.

Kiki, I assume you're taking the piss. That might be how Americans think, but it's not actually true.
If any of them anywhere can beat H. H. Holmes I'd love to read up them.

Well, I'd hate for it to get competitive. Having the worst serial killer isn't much to brag about.
But unfortunately, Harold Shipman is up there with the worst.
Even though he didn't engage in sadistic torture, as far as I know.

But getting killed is pretty horrible. No matter how painless, it's the loss of life that's devastating to everybody concerned, and Shipman was horribly efficient.

Holmes' House of Horrors was like something Pinhead would have thought up. He was limited only by the technology of his day.

Yeah, it's not a competition (shudder) but the Holmes story is pretty astounding and horrifying. You can't make this shit up.

Kevin, military men are specifically exempted from the definition because they don't kill for personal reasons.
Who was it? Andrei Chikatilo or somebody earlier?

and what prevents a military person from ALSO being a serial killer, possibly hiding his murders under cover of sanctioned killings?

Nothing prevents a military person from ALSO being a serial killer. I was lax in specifying "when killing in combat situations". :bored:

Lots of non-Americans there, especially amongst the more prolific killers. But I suspect there are a great many "lesser" serial killers outside the USA who've never been identified as such, let alone caught - see above.
I noticed any number of cases missing from the list... Like the couple behind the Moors murders, the ones that should have been caught a couple years earlier and hanged, but benefitted from the death penalty being abolished and died fairly recently.

The definition I quoted wasn't sourced there. I quote the FBI's CBU definition.

I looked up worst serial killers on wiki.

The amazing thing is that the worst ones, in south america and some European countries, only did 19 years, as those countries have that as a maximum jail sentence. I believe Norway is the same, so that gun-loony won't die in jail.

What the fuck is wrong with these countries? That's one thing I do like about the US, that serious crimes do get serious sentences.

That list is by number of victims; maybe that has something to do with it?

more with the fact I could not look that list properly at the time... I counterchecked with a word search, and Brady and Hindley were there alright, in the 'less than 15 victims' section.
