The French may aspire to British levels of pomposity but they are far too lightweight to achieve it. They must content their odious, pomaded selves with a contemptible simulacrum of pomposity, made even more vile by a pretentiousness that knows no bounds.

What can I say, the brits believe they have achieved a degree of pomposity, but all they ever did was ape their betters.

I'm not sure what that meant - or in what language it was - but I think enough of it was obviously French enough to get a conviction! :tea:

My dear chap, the word "endeavour" does not truly encapsulate the magnitude of my success. Further, I find it strangely comforting that the French "national delusion of grandeur" is replicated at the level of the individual.

A Briton would find it superfluous to boast of superiority.

Where I come from it's called "reminding the simple minded of the basic facts of existence".

By the very blood that runs in my veins, I can't escape the fact that the saxon live on pretence and stolen finery.
