Re: Homosexuality on Children's Television Shows
This happened about 5 years ago. Caused a huge controversy. Can't find a video of it, but it was like a 2 minute clip from Play School, a popular Australian show for kids. Whether or not it was a reaction to the refusal of allowing same-sex couples to adopt, im not sure about. I thought it was kind of cool that the ABC (the national broadcaster) stood by the programme despite the big reaction. It kind of confused me too, most kids that watch playschool would be under 5 years old, and the clip was so innocent and centered around a child's experiences at a fair, and her 2 mothers in the background (who had screentime of all of about 20 seconds as they walked into the fair, watched the childs activities and then left IIRC). No kid at ALL would have been coerced or forced or even hinted at to think about sexuality in any way, and most if they had noticed the 2 women on screen would have assumed it was an aunt or female friend of their mothers.

I can't find a video of it either, but I think this short account of the segment should suffice:
On the 31 May 2004 a segment was shown showing what was taken by the public to be two lesbian women taking their child and her friend to an amusement park. A little girl narrated the clip, stating "My Mums are taking me and my friend Merryn to an amusement park." The clip was raised as controversial by the media, and three federal ministers expressed dislike over the screening of the clip. The ABC responded however, saying that "Play School aims to reflect the diversity of Australian children, embracing all manner of race, religions and family situations." The producers of the segment also said the segment showed the girl being accompanied by her birth mother and her step mother (hence "two mums") and they believed most people would automatically assume the same.

Don't see the problem. The inclusion of homosexual themes into television will come when it is more included in mainstream culture. That takes a while, even when homosexuality itself is not a taboo.

I am against any form of homosexuality on TV - it is too easy to fall off.

There's a homosexual on the telly.
What's it doing there?
Standing.
I can see that!

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Well I demand it be shown right now. There are more supporters of homosexuality than there are haters. There will probably be more children who watch the show, too, seeing as how curious children are and they'll be asking, "Mommy, what is this?"RuleBritannia wrote:Homosexuality has been common on "grown-up" TV for years, since about the mid 90s', thus people who grow up wathching that will be more excepting of homosexuality in childrens TV. 2/3 people that walk into churches support homosexuality.
Most of the media supports homosexuality.
The media indoctrinates children into supporting it as well.
I can't remember where I read this, but it was like a year ago and I happen to remember it.

Why do you have to do this?Tails Turrosaki wrote:Well, I AM gay after all...
I've noticed that I have to remind people or tell people that I'm gay every day.Just today somebody didn't know I was gay, and I told him. His mouth opened a bit and he dropped his book. He was like, "Seriously?" Apparently he's not homophobic, but he said that I "didn't have to go that way". I was going to tell him that homosexuality isn't a choice, but he had to go on stage (we were acting... dreadfully).

Victim Complex.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."
