Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
Well NineBerry, where do you differ from Darwin? He assumed that race/varieties existed in everything - an ongoing process - and didn't make an exception for humans despite the controversy it caused (evolution itself was bad enough). So why do you think he was wrong to not make an exception and do you apply this exception to anything else?

The Emperor Penguin certainly doesn't have any subspecies.

Bakker or Galaxian. Which one does superficial better? Any bets?
Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
The idea of a taxonomic classification of a single species into subspecies each with unique heritable traits is hardly a new or unique concept. What is unique is that humans are the only species exempt from such classification. There is no valid scientific reason for this, only social ones. Why should science not bow to religious prejudice but genuflect before social prejudice? Either science is in pursuit of 'truth' and knowledge or it is not. If not, it is little more than a flawed tool used to carve then next generation of iPhone from the barren rock face.

But is, itself, a subspecies.NineBerry wrote:The Emperor Penguin certainly doesn't have any subspecies.
Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
No, the Emperor Penguin is a fully fledged species of its own

According to Science!
Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
I suppose someone ought to let poor old Dr. Robert Ricker know then. Poor fellow seems to think they're a subspecies.
Anyhow, species or subspecies, what was your point? That the human species does not have any subspecies?

Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
My dear Făkünamę, Dr. Robert Ricker has not much to say about penguins because he is a geologist. You will only find his name connected to websites about penguins because he has taken photographs with them on an expedition to the Antarctic.
Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
Whatever. He's associated with the NOAA and some other marine related shit, but I'm more interested in what your point actually is.
Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
My point is that humans are not the only species that doesn't have subspecies.
And that you are obviously talking about stuff you know nothing about because you cite some random site off the internet that you didn't study carefully enough to understand who is the author and who is just credited with authorship of some photos used

I don't know much about penguins, but I'm unable to find anything that states emperor penguins are unable to interbreed with other penguins. Also, your aggressive and dismissive demeanour is indicative of a person who's afraid to continue conversing for fear their own ignorance will be revealed. You know, the sort of shit people at Rational Skepticism are full of.
Anyhow, you're simply asserting that humans have no subspecies. Where is your evidence? Before you type out another aggressively dismissive reply, perhaps you ought to read up on what a subspecies actually is. Wikipedia is a good start.

Re: Is There A Sound Basis For Racial Profiling?
Wikipedia says that both Emperor penguins and humans don't have subspecies...
