uh what? I support killing politicians because they are all corrupt, but that has nothing to do with any pipelines.

Yeah. I don't need a pipeline to want to commit genocide against the whole political class.

I think Coito replied to animavore's post, in which he listed four things that are being protested all over the world:

Pipelines
Dirty extraction
Tar sand
Fracking

Still, we know what the denizens of the US are like, don't we? ;)
I guess in a sense being a pipeline could be a specific problem, as they can fracture and leak etc. But the main problem is opening up the Tar Sands oil fields (by providing a huge export opportunity) and the terrible effect that will have on global warming.
Oil pipelines are actually a huge environmental problem. Check out this incomplete list of pipeline accidents in the US since 2000. I have not found a similar list for Eurasia. Perhaps Coito can fill us in on those facts. ;)

No, I'm sure that European pipelines are far better than Merkin pipelines, and they don't have accidents.

Only Merkans can't be trusted. If someone advocates an oil rig along the southeastern US Atlantic coast -- no fucking way -- shoot that motherfucking eco-terrorist! If a Brit or a Norwegian wants to build a skyscraper sized rig in the middle of the raging North Atlantic Ocean, well, of course, it's only reasonable, and they build oil rigs to be completely leak-proof over there. If only we could hire those folks to build the rigs here in the Gulf of Mexico.....

It's the same people building and running the rigs in the US and in Europe. US companies have a big presence in various parts of the world, including Europe, and Brits and 'wegians have a presence in the US. Remember, it was BRITISH Petroleum that ran the rig in the Gulf of Mexico that leaked all that oil a few years back. Remember the Deepwater Horizon spill? But, it was probably that Merkin influence that was to blame. We're bad-luck-Shleprocks over here in the US -- can't do a damn thing right. Like when we send craft to other planets, it's the Merkin one's that disappear, not the Euro ones like Beagle. And our nuclear reactors - well, when an American reactor has a problem, like Three Mile Island where the reactor core was compromised (but all safety measures worked fine and the radiation was kept contained) and the entire US nuclear industry was stalled in its tracks because one person Dr. Edward Teller, a physicist, worked himself into a heart attack refuting the anti-nuclear propaganda that took place after the accident. That's not like the safe, Euro, nuclear reactors, like, Chernobyl....

Pipelines in Europe have particular political significance, in that many of them bring gas or oil from or through Russia, or via countries Russia can pressure. The potential for economic blackmail is very real...

A 'total lie': Trump University ex-staffers condemn school as 'fraudulent scheme'

Testimony from three former employees in class-action lawsuit lambasts school that ‘preyed upon the elderly and uneducated’

Some of the harshest critics of Trump University have been revealed to be former employees of the now-defunct university majority-owned by Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican US presidential candidate.

In sworn testimony, three former staff members have described the real estate school as “a facade, a total lie” and a “fraudulent scheme” that “preyed upon the elderly and uneducated to separate them from their money”.

In extracts from their evidence to a class-action lawsuit against the school, made public this week, the former staff tell the inside story of the “front-end high-pressure speaker scam” at Trump University.

Ronald Schnackenberg, who worked at Trump University’s headquarters on Wall Street between 2006 and 2007, said he felt compelled to resign because he thought the company was “engaging in misleading, fraudulent and dishonest conduct”.

Of course, very reasonable indeed. Shoot Trump, though, for supporting a pipeline.

They only pipe carbon neutral oil and gas.

Regarding Trump U - they are certainly disconcerting allegations -- let's see how it plays out. Witness testimony varies, employees may be disgruntled or have an ax to grind, etc. Let's look at all the facts.

But, this is certainly a legitimate area of inquiring and a legitimate area of concern.
