WTF?!? Where is the assault in that video??! There's a reason why the police did nothing... no fucking crime occurred.

The taking of the microphone was an assault, as was the woman who got in Milo's face and swung her fist at him. An assault is not a battery. An assault is an attempted battery. The taking of the microphone, however, is an assault in the US. Add to that the threats to hit MIlo.

Moreover, security at a conference is not limited to arrests for crimes. If, for example, Obama or Hillary are speaking on stage somewhere, and someone goes up on stage and takes the microphone and starts rambling about the stage screaming, interfering with the event, then the security is there to drag them out. They may or may not be arrested, but criminal activity is not the only reason to take someone out of reserved room. Similarly, if it is a less political, run of the mill figure, like a comedian or a pundit, and they are speaking on stage, and the same thing happens, security should take action.

Here, of course, the assaults are obvious - the woman assaulted Milo when she lunged at him as he is sitting down and she swings her fist and it comes very close to him, as he turns his head away and winces a bit. It does not appear she makes contact, which would mean she avoids a battery charge, but the lunge and the swing are assaults.

I don't think you were supposed to watch the two hour video. Below it there was a video with a 25 second clip of the incident. I mean, seriously, if that's what constitutes a crime in the US, you guys need to remove the sticks from your arses. That level of thing must happen literally thousands of times a day in the US. Imagine if the courts were to get bogged up with cry babies taking that sort of stuff to the judiciary?

And in any case, I presume Milo could still request charges be laid, as he has video evidence? I suspect he's sensible enough to realise how fucking embarrassing it would be to bring charges against that sort of thing.

The assault in and of itself was minor, yes. but, that assault was combined with another person taking the stage and grabbing the microphone and disrupting the event. They screamed and yelled and basically ruined a pre-planned conference in a reserved room, where people who had driven long distances (in some cases) had come to hear Milo speak. The moderator and Milo had to sit there and take it, and nothing was done. Nothing. The event was successfully shut down by douchebags who think they have justification to a stage, steal a microphone, commandeer the stage and take swings at people.

If you sit there in your bullshit and try to claim that you would be as accepting of the behavior if Trump supporters to the mic and stage away from a Bernie supporter or a Hillary supporter, and threatened to knock people out or down, and took a swing at a person, then that's fine. Everyone can see you're full of shit, because there is no way you wouldn't be suggesting that the Trump supporters are showing their racism and violence and behaving like fascists by doing that. You'd be right, too, to say so, if they did that. When it's "Progressives" acting like raving assholes, though, you are quick to the Apologetics.

Sure, and the college republicans who brought Milo in and Milo/Breitbart split the cost of the security. The school, shortly before the event, demanded something like $3000 extra be paid such that security could be supplied for the event. The money was paid. Yet, the security stood by and watched, at the behest of the school administration, because marginalized asshats are allowed to commandeer stages, because, you know, these are voices that aren't traditionally heard, and they don't have privilege, and white male patriarchy.

As we keep trying to tell you, the biggest problem here is that the public servants that are supposed to enforce the law have been turned into mercenaries for hire in your ridiculous uber-capitalist society. Like I said regarding scales of problems. That is a BIG problem. If the power of the State is available to the highest bidder, then you've got a lot more problems than some ranty twats in the corners of academia.

The problem was DePaul's administration sided with the violent disrupters, because they oppose Milo's positions, and think it's justified for marginalized groups (so called) to act out in this fashion. That's the problem.

After watching the video I can see why the cops did nothing. Nothing happened. Uni security should have done something, though.

This is like primary school level debate. I must admit, because I've never really had large amounts of bandwidth and data, I've never got into the whole youtube thing and all the random privately produced videos out there. But I just cringe when I watch shit like this, to think that someone actually spent time putting that stuff together to portray a level of sophisticated argument that my cat could better. Seriously, do you find this sort of stuff a convincing argument for anything?
