The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Re: Fail
Learn to read, silly thing. I quite explicitly said direct concern. Mass murder doesn't affect my every day life. As such (meaning "from that perspective"), I don't give a damn about any individual instance of genocide. If you would've read the last paragraph, you would've seen that I do care about peoples suffering in abstracto. You insinuating that my humanity might be lacking is one of those things that I mentioned that quite frequently occur on this board that I find extremely offensive. Still, I wouldn't have the board administration change the rules to prevent you from insulting me in such a way. I would like to claim the right to in return call you an offensive, hypocritical, ignorant idiot. The "hypocritical" part refers to your position on Iran, by the way.Rumertron wrote:Of course it matters! Are you suggesting we simply ignore offensive and tasteless posts? That's ridiculous.JOZeldenrust wrote:I agree almost completely with Lozzer. Certainly mass murder isn't a direct concern of mine, and I doubt it's a direct concern of many people on this board. As such, I don't care about it. People really tend to get into hissy fits over Lozzers antics, when in practice they're not hurting anyone. They might be offensive and tasteless, but that shouldn't really matter now should it?
And it mass murder does not concern you I suggest your humanity needs a little attention.
Sheesh.
On the subject of offensive posts, yes I would have people ignore offensive and tasteless post at least more often then they do at present. What I wouldn't want to happen is having authorities decide what's considered unacceptable communication. That should be up to the community. Individual members of the community can decide not to interact with people they consider to be offensive too often, and if there's consensus on that matter, the offensive individual will be de facto ostracised from the community.
