Ehh... not so much. Fear makes people do irrational things, including "stockpile".

Fear is a great motivator, it might be the impulse we need to get off this mud ball and infest the larger universe.born-again-atheist wrote:Ehh... not so much. Fear makes people do irrational things, including "stockpile".

I think wonder would be a better motivator in that respect. Fear would make you rush things, and probably miss out on the important things.Gawdzilla wrote:Fear is a great motivator, it might be the impulse we need to get off this mud ball and infest the larger universe.born-again-atheist wrote:Ehh... not so much. Only if fear shakes you up. Fear can make you go cold and precise as well. It really does make the world go crystal clear and sharp.born-again-atheist wrote:I think wonder would be a better motivator in that respect. I guess I'm speaking more from the standard-issue fear that grips mass populations. Hysteria and so on.Gawdzilla wrote:Only if fear shakes you up. Fear can make you go cold and precise as well. Ah, the "When Worlds Collide" scenario. Up to the point where the losers decide to redo the lottery results it's mine, then your version takes over. I can be aggressive when I want to be. I can switch it on and off.
