Is that because you think comparable measures of child happiness are unachievable, or just that you dispute the Netherlands' top ranking?

It's because I was wondering what the rankings were based on and how "happiness" was determined - what factors? Usually, these kind of reports judge countries by looking a list of a few key factors. Sometimes, the factors can be politically skewed, like if having universal government-provided healthcare is considered a feature of "happiness," that kind of thing. I hadn't had time to read the whole report. I note, too, that the report refers to child "well-being" and not "happiness," which may be a bit different. Some of the most unhappy people in the world are high on what would be considered "well-being."

Thanks for that. I can relate to it very well. While I can agree with 42 that the Netherlands is not a socialist country. It is not a capitalist one either. It is a hybrid that exists due to peoples attitude with each other whether in work or play. There is something you cant put your finger on. I always think it is basically tolerance.

I can agree that it can be referred to as a hybrid or mixed economy.
