Did the release of this game actually have a substantial and noticeable affect on student attendance? If so, that's kinda funny.JimC wrote:A bit of both, I suppose...Audley Strange wrote:Seriously? Or are you just having a laugh?JimC wrote:Absenteeism at our school hit new heights this week.

Well, that's what some of the teachers were saying, partly based on them hearing kids say things like "Johnnny wasn't here yesterday, he was too busy gaming"Seabass wrote:Did the release of this game actually have a substantial and noticeable affect on student attendance? See if you can find out and if any of them were under 18 get the social services involved, if Abbot hasn't yet disbanded it in favour of nuns.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Well considering Aus' moral panic when it comes to games, I think it might be interesting to see if it is parental negligence causing it. I really like pointing out that shit parents are mostly always the cause of youth based social problems, not the games.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I love this game. My housemate has a chipped Playstation so had it 3 days before release. I'm not usually fond of piracy but I think a reasonable case can be made that as far as GTA is concerned it's actually moral to steal it. Gonna have to buy it next week anyway so I can play the multiplayer online when it opens.
I'm quite far into the game. I've committed a lot of crime and own a lot of stuff. Including a fighter jet I brazenly robbed from the army.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I'd like to play it, but I don't own an XBox or PS3. I have GTA IV for my PC, but that game just isn't meant to run on a desktop. Mine should be more than powerful enough for it to run, but it still goes slow at times. And I don't want to buy an XBox or PS3 just for this game, especially since they'll be obsolete before long. Maybe I'll get a PS4 at some point.
Just thinking out loud. I really loved GTA: San Andreas for the PS2.

Yeah probably best you don't Ian, your bosses would probably consider you a security risk.

http://www.gq.com/blogs/the-feed/2013/0 ... revor.htmlDuring GQ.com’s recent chat with the stars of Grand Theft Auto V, they all agreed on one thing: they’re actors and not “just voice actors.” For better or worse, Shawn “Solo” Fonteno, Ned Luke, and Steven Ogg are Franklin, Michael, and Trevor, the characters they play in this smash-hit installment. They didn’t just spend time sitting in a recording booth talking into a microphone. Rather, over a three-year period they became their characters, lived and breathed in their skin, and through extensive motion capture, real-life interaction, and lengthy voice acting sessions in that very booth, Fonteno, Luke, and Ogg crafted performances that bring little bits of data to stunningly realistic video game life.
